Is this gonna be a 'Logical Progression' set? I see that they're doing an oldschool LP set in Amsterdam a few days before. So stoked for this either way, but an oldschool set from Bukem would blow my mind.

I'm sure he'll more than make up for it this time though. The most recent mix I've heard from him was one of the better mixes I've ever had the pleasure of listening to from the great man.

BIG BIG props to the LTJ. My mum loved your tunes when she didn't like no other DNB/jungle

door, i would assume 30-40.. which is WORTH it .. I don't say this for MANY djs.. Bukem is one of the few I would pay this for and feel ok about it Lots of other names I didn't feel same hehe
immigration = he's too gangsta?
As for Traktor, I think it's cool. I hate dnb/junglists getting all nasty about digitals. Seriously, grow up! Sure, your vinyl is the best, also I wouldn't want ANY other control interface than a turntable for my emulation, ALSO I drop any vinyl I can, WHEN ITS WORTH IT ... really, I have lots of great wax, why waste its 200 plays (before obvious degradation) on small shows etc?? Vinyl = big shows or nice systems.. digital = everyday life
Everyone deserves to backup their collections.. also, for crappy copies of things like my Amboss Gran Nocimenti EP, coloured wax which has some pressing issues in way of crackly bits at ends of records.. I can amend this in Wavelab after I rip it so its actually BETTEr for me to play my cleaned up copy with less clicks n pops! Considering no DIGITAL available for this..
I wish EVERY VINYL RELEASE coming out included a free download of FLAC or 320 with a code sticker on inside of every sleeve. So that like, I just got Deformer - roffadub 7" on Clash, 2x copies, BOTH catch in last 30 seconds on a lock groove. No change in carts, tone arm height/weight setup will help... assuming it's some issue specific to Vestax straight tone arm, because the 2nd copy was tested by the distributor in UK before sending played fine on 1200. So in this case, it was imperative that Deformer sent me a digital or I couldn't play it.. so thankfully, I can play!
Digital is the way, he probably gets 100's of unreleased 90's digidubs past years every week so how else to play all this?? Unless expensive single pressings/dubplates, or CDJ? Seriously, I HATE CD PLAYERS.. I think Traktor/Serato PWN over CDJ anyday.
So for it's not an issue. Had a friend dissing laptoppers other day too, it's just the sadness they feel that vinyl isnt no 1 anymore when has been for so long. death of technics not a good thing either. Anyway, bit off topic, digital is here to stay. Props to the Bukem for utilising the new tech, u can do things in mix could NEVER do even 4x decks without digital...
Hope u guys hav a wicked night, i'm too broke for dis but ill make it next time, hopefully Conrad gets his named changed or something before then and can see him too : )

Re: BBA - LTJ BUKEM & MC CONRAD // SAT FEB 19TH // @ BA
I dont think YI comment is neccesarily invalid.
My DJing is so bad I couldnt mix cordial, but thanks to the help of Traktor these days I turn out what I think are some pretty rad mixes. Theres no way I could do the same on turntables or CDJ's.
So yeh I can DJ on Traktor but not with regular set-up so I think the Traktor as cheating comment is a fair observation.
I don't know about how it relates to musical training though, I have some (can play a little piano) and it has no relevance to my abilities as a DJ. If it did I would probably be better at it.

I think it would be best to clarify... using the sync button in Traktor is cheating. I use control vinyl and it's pretty much the same as using actual vinyl.mrj wrote:So yeh I can DJ on Traktor but not with regular set-up so I think the Traktor as cheating comment is a fair observation.

Apart from not sounding as good as vinyl, the only real difference is how you load a tune, weather it be putting a record on the turntable, loading a cd or pressing ctrl left or right on a laptop.
Vinyl, cd, serato & traktor all requires the same fundamental principals from a Dj perspective. Beatmatch, EQ, cut & scratch as required.
Re: BBA - LTJ BUKEM & MC CONRAD // SAT FEB 19TH // @ BA
Word. Button pressing is a fundamental, be it on decks, CDJs or laptop. Putting together a great set is a whole other thing, and just because you can use traktor doesn't mean you can do it.meltdown wrote:Cheating? How so? i love the sync button. i like to dj with the celine dion album, just so i can sync the titanic.
everything needs a sync button. colleagues disgreeing at work - sync. shoes don't match outfit - sync. honey where do i put the dirty dishes? - sink.
sink button ftw.

I love the sync button. I believe girls use one when they're menstruating and live in the same house.

Sync button = meh. Couldn't care less if you use it. Beat mixing isn't like a world secret or anything... and if you're not mixing straight up house and haven't beat gridded your tracks, your sync is bound to fail time to time anyway.... the main thing about DJ'ing is and always has been playing good tunes that your crowd digs - knowing how to put them together, and when. Everything else is just icing. imho.
