TRIBE NYD NIGHT
TRIBE - New Years Day Night
Release your primal instincts this NYD Night!!
Return to a primitive time when rhythmic drums rumbled through the vast jungle and moved the savage tribes in a collective of hypnotic dance.
Brown Alley will be transformed into a massive 3 level jungle themed environment, featuring a unique interactive decor setup, cutting edge lighting displays and mind bending visuals.
This is an optional "DRESS UP PARTY" for anyone who would like to really get in theme, so come dressed as a tribal savage or any kind of jungle animal.
Be prepared Melbourne as we kick off the New Year with arguably one of the biggest broken beat lineups of the last decade!!
ALREADY THIS IS ONE OF THE FASTEST SELLING TICKETED EVENTS IN THE CLUBS HISTORY - THIS EVENT WILL 100% SELL OUT
Stanton Warriors
Stanton Warriors are the breakbeat duo Dominic Butler and Mark Yardley. They are a DJ and producer team of Breakbeat, a style of electronic dance music. Originally from the West Country, the pair now play high-profile sets at internationally-renowned clubs such as Fabric and Sankeys Soap in the UK, and travel the globe extensively, with international acclaim in Europe, Canada, America and Australia. Their style is sometimes described as a fusion of electro, breakbeat and 2-step UK garage. Their name was taken from a hexagonal shaped manhole cover, made by Stanton Ironworks, based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire which seemed fitting with their style of underground, cutting edge music.
Scratch Perverts
Tony Vegas, Prime Cuts and Plus One are the Scratch Perverts - a name that has become synonymous with HipHop and battle DJing ever since their formation in 1996. Their reputation as one of the world’s most progressive DJ collectives is unparalleled; two consecutive World DMC Team titles, Plus One's World DMC Champion and World Vestax Champion titles, Prime Cut's back to back World ITF Scratching crowns, and countless showcases and gigs all over the world.
Having won all there is to offer in the competition circuit, the Perverts are ready to enter the next stage of their development as recording artists. But as DJs who have contributed countless techniques and pioneered such radical innovations developing the musical language of the turntable, what the Perverts define as HipHop is a long way off what people would expect. “HipHop is a celebration of all kinds of music just by its very nature,” explains Prime Cuts. “So it follows that our album is very much a HipHop album in the broadest sense of the term. We’ve tried to do what we see HipHop as being – a celebration of all music, taking on board everything that inspires us and channelling it into our tracks.”
LTJ Bukem
Arguably the prime innovator in the development of jungle from its early status as an offshoot of hardcore techno into the respected, stylistic genre it became by the end of the 1990s, LTJ Bukem gained fame as an auteur in all fields of the drum'n'bass movement: as a top-flight breakbeat DJ, owner and label head of the Good Looking/Looking Good stable of labels and, of course, for his recordings -- inspired by the lush strings and natural ambience of '70s jazz fusion masters like Lonnie Liston Smith and Chick Corea as well as elegiac Chicago house and moody Detroit techno. Allied with the early-'90s rave and hardcore scene, Bukem began working on production near the end of the 1980s; though his light, airy sound made little sense to his contemporaries, Bukem's style was emulated much more as the jungle scene gained momentum during the mid-'90s. While such producers as Roni Size and Goldie gained the limelight for their solo work, Bukem purposely downplayed his own artistic career in favor of mix albums and label-spanning retrospectives that highlighted dozens of artists from his labels.
A-Skillz
Adam ‘A.Skillz’ is one of the country’s most funky beatmeisters. His fierce production skills and turntable dexterity has seen him explode onto the scene, collaborating with hip-hop legends and making music for worldwide brands. At only 24 years old his incredible deck talents involve fusing funk, hip-hop and breaks with his unique style of scratching and mixing. His reputation as a true party rocker has won him prime-time slots across the UK at FabricLive, Spectrum, Chew The Fat, Supercharged, The Boutique and Sugarbeat as well as gigs around the world at major events, festivals and music industry parties such as The Hit Factory (New York), WMC (Miami) and Field Day (Sydney). A.Skillz released his debut album “TrickaTechnology” alongside Finger Lickin’s very own Krafty Kuts. The album was a nod towards musical influences like De La Soul, James Brown and Jurassic 5, true Finger Lickin’ Funk that enlisted the talents of some of the world’s best hip-hop and funk artists including Kurtis Blow, Real Elements and Ashley “Freakpower” Slater.
Netsky
Hailing from a small town in Belgium, Netsky (real name: Boris Daenen) is one of the most promising upcoming producers of the moment. In the last 4 years involved in music production, he realized that he likes his drum & bass deep and soulful. He is trying to balance the deepness and musicality of his sound with heavy beats and bass to keep the dancefloor alive. With a number of 12”s on Hype’s Liqweed Ganja and Twisted Individual’s Allsorts in the pipeline, he’s on the way to being a big name.
Shockone
Coming from a traditionally trained musical background Shock One bring a unique sound to the drum and bass music scene. Discovering the sound through artists like Bad Company, Konflict and Ed Rush & Optical, it wasn’t long before Karl Thomas and Jay Burns, at the time playing in a metal band with members of Pendulum, were experimenting in the electronic music.
It was when Shock One’s tune ‘Silverscreen’ dropped at a pendulum return show that things started to really move. Having torn the roof off it wasn’t long before Dj Friction had picked it up for his own imprint Shogun audio, backed up with Dropping science this was a debut release that made the world take notice, gaining support from Friction, Andy C and Hype to name a few. Followed by this release was ‘It’s On’ which featured the musical side of the Duo utilizing live guitars resulting in an energetic party anthem that proved Shockone were more than reeces and amens
Nick Thayer
There is no-one else who can drop a set like Nick Thayer. Every single track is his exclusive. An original. A remix. A re-edit. A bootleg. A mash-up. Equal parts hip hop, club, rave, house, drum and bass. No-one can put it together like Thayer either. Perhaps it is the throwback rock moves, the seat-of your-pants approach. Feeling kinda like a freight train on the edge of control. Some jams you will definitely know, some you might know, some you definitely won’t. All will make you move.
In the studio Nick is one of the most widely recognised and respected names across a multitude of genres.
Massive tracks like Ca$h Money, Reach For The Lazers, Mind Control (as found on PS2 game ‘Motor Storm’), and the MOP approved Ante Up remix have all blasted through sound systems like dy-no-miiiite. Sway, DJ Yoda, Wizard Sleeve, AC Slater, Sporty O, Trevor Loveys, A Skillz, and Black Noise are part of the long list of people Nick has worked with in the past year alone. With releases on Southern Fried (Fatboyslim’s label), Passenger, Sweat It Out, Klub Kids, Insane Bangers, Bombstrikes, and many more, you’ll find everyone from Kissy Sell Out to Freestylers to Cuban Brothers to Utah Saints rocking his tunes week in week out in the clubs.

Re: TRIBE NYD NIGHT
A.Skillz is only 24? I thought he been around for quite a few years already...
If his first LP dropped in 2003, that would have made him 16 when he released that!?
Wow.

Re: TRIBE NYD NIGHT
Personally, I dont actually think it's that stupid (bias or no bias). Programming is an integral part of DJing / putting a set together, as are skills yes? Why alienate the general punter (a majority of people interested in the event) out there in favour of something only DJs could stand a chance of winning?nic wrote:i dont have facebook so i carnt win

My 2 pesos. Just sayin'.
Edit: spelling
Re: TRIBE NYD NIGHT
I think it's a decent idea MJ.
You could come up with the most brilliant idea on here, and 90% of the comments would still be taking the piss... don't take it to heart.

Re: TRIBE NYD NIGHT
Epic..
Ceiling was dripping with sweat like when the prodigy played the metro in jan a few yrs ago and the aircon wasn't working.
ASkillz did a good banger set but grabbed a lot from his releases,
Nick Thayer good,
Stantons were just going thru the motions (I keep giving them one more chance..)
Bukem was ok but missed Conrad
Netsky was very good - worked really hard.
Great value for money.
The night missed a really top MC tho.. Come back lowqui!
