due to the amount of spam posts, new users have to have their first three posts approved.

joined a forum recently with a five post 'red thread' - one which was hidden from normal forum views (you had to bookmark it when logging in), users could add to existing threads but not start new ones until the 5 post count was up, and the red threads where used for this.

seemed to work well, but i guess some of the spam here is more of the manual kind, than spambots?

there's no automated 'spam' users anymore, but you'd be surprised at the amount of the 'manual' type.

i've been promoting human/normal users whenever possible.
