THE UPBEATS

In today’s heady climate of bass-fuelled dance music, one could easily argue that DJs are the new rockstars. Well The Upbeats have already been playing that role for years. Fuelled by New Zealand’s isolation from the rest of the world and its staggering natural beauty, The Upbeats’ unique take on all forms of bass music has seen the duo work alongside some of the scene’s most influential names and releasing tracks across a plethora of respected record labels. Two most recent examples include their critically acclaimed fourth full length LP ‘Primitive Technique’ on Noisa’s Vision Recordings in 2013 and their recent ‘Rituals EP’ on Blackout Music. Their ‘anything-goes’ live performances and approach to writing hard-hitting, unique-sounding drum & bass is lauded across the globe.

DC BREAKS

When it comes to crafting anthemic dancefloor destroyers, DC Breaks sit at the very top of the class. Nearly a decade of production experience has propelled Dan Havers and Chris Page right to the forefront as one of drum & bass’s premier headline acts. Since signing exclusively to Andy C’s RAM Records in 2010 the duo has charged forward with a number of high energy cuts on the legendary label. From their debut single ‘The More I Want’ to the epic ‘Shaman’ via the guttural punches of ‘Swag’ and ‘Gambino’, they demonstrate muscular music skills on a whole new level. The duo pretty much owned 2013 with the two biggest releases of the year, and their presence has been felt on the same hard-hitting level this year, too. Currently working on a highly anticipated debut album and famed for pummelling six deck sets DC Breaks promises a bona fide aural assault.

CYANTIFIC

Cyantific aka Jon Stanley has been at the forefront of drum & bass for nearly a decade. He is one of an elite force of DJs to have released tracks on both Hospital and RAM Records, whilst having the first ever record out on the now seminal Critical Music back in 2002. In 2010, Cyantific Music was established as a way for Jon to really push his D.I.Y ethic. 2012 saw friends Wilkinson and Snapclicker aid Jon in the construction of the CYN laboratory where his skills as both a talent selector and solo producer shine through. As releases like ‘Infinity’, ’Defect’ and the ‘Liberty EP’ cemented his status as one of the leading technical producers in the scene, his music has gained support from an impressively broad range of high profile tastemakers including Steve Aoki, Annie Mac, Andy C and Mistajam. The CYN Sound Lab has created a perfect platform for the next stage of Cyantific’s career… The long awaited album he’s currently moulding on a top secret deep sea chemical production plant.

TECHNIMATIC

Musically rich, emotionally-charged yet heavy drum & bass is one of the hardest styles to nail. But when Pete Rogers and Andy Powell do it, they make it sound too easy. Known and loved as Technimatic, Pete and Andy started making music together back as Technicolour & Komatic in 2008. Since those early entrances into the D&B psyche the boys have gone on to release their liquid infused mix of hyper-coloured D&B on labels such as Critical, Technique, Spearhead and a Friction’s hugely respected label Shogun Audio, to which they are now exclusively signed. Fresh from releasing their debut album ‘Desire Paths’ – an album that’s already been noted as one of drum & bass’s most important releases of 2014 by the likes of DJ Mag, UKF and Mixmag – Technimatic are on an unstoppable roll right now. We guarantee their appearance at each of Drum&BassArena’s Australian showcases will represent this roll in full effect!
