What a welcome back to Brown Alley last month was. With over 350 people sorting themselves out to the sounds of breakbeat and drum’n’bass, it was a perfect night in all definitions of the word. It seems the Melbourne massive have spoken and they’ve said, “FREE PARTY IS GOODâ€!
Yes, folks. If you haven’t heard yet, Melbourne’s good time, party machine is back to being a FREE party again and are we ever happy that we don’t have to charge ya’ll anymore. Never in it for the cash from the word go, we didn’t like having to charge people to come to their own party, so gone is the door charge. But not the BW VIBE, as was evident last month.
July sees us back to the Alley of Brown yet again with another 2 rooms of all that is broken. To make the evening even more of a top night to come, it’s the big, fat American’s birthday. Yes, Obliveus will be turning 31 on the evening, so make sure to come down and wish him well.
Main room shenanigans will boast the always “reliable†Ben Stacey to open up the show, followed by the King Scotrod with his trusty mouthpiece, Direkt. Also known as the Enforcers, these two blew the place apart last month with a vocal, turntable, effects processor attack rivaled by no one. You really have to see what these two do to fully appreciate the spectacle. They really are the real deal and it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the scene finally takes notice.
On next will be the birthday boy himself, OB1 on the wheels of steel. He’ll be playing stuff that’s so new, it hasn’t even been written yet. His skills on the decks are so unbelievable, he lets other people play the records while he directs. In fact, he might not even turn up on the night and just let his legend speak for itself. He's so good that his sets can't even be heard by normal ears; you must be endowed with listening powers from high up to fully grasp its greatness. Now, if any of that was taken seriously, you really do need to come to a Bee Dub to iron out your wires.
Closing the night will be Mr. Electrobreak himself, Hans-DC. His opening set at the last BW had everyone in the place singing along to childhood favorites and his last closing set had us open for almost an hour past closing because nobody wanted to leave, so make sure you’re here for this one. His tastes are beyond eclectic, but one thing is always for sure, the man can play!
Again the side room will be open with the bad boys from Prime Mover dropping massive bombs from the realm of drum’n’bass. This month 2 guests have been brought in to help rinse the system with Cliffery and Cubist joining Dopebeat, Fickuss and MC’s Wasp and Dr. Sponk. We’ve been assured that the sound problems from last month in the side room will be rectified, so all should be right.
Get yourself down to Melbourne’s ONLY free monthly party and see what lies beyond the hype! You wont be disappointed.
