I thought Scotland Yard were on high terrorism alert especially with London's Underground. I'm sure I read it or watched it somewhere. Its a terrible thing that's occured but I must i'm not surprised its happened.

7/7 a coincidence? Also them getting the 2012 Olympics, it must be a retaliation? Ooooo the conspiracy theorists are gonna have a field day.

Blair better feel guilty about this. Assholar!

Luckily my cousin and auntie are in Manchester, they got out of London's hustle and bustle. Oh shit I hope my other 2,478 Aussie friends that are working there are ok.

London isn't a nice place to be at the moment...

things seem to be calming down but there's still sirens everywhere (police / ambulance, the army has arrived too).

I work about 500m from Russel Square (I think thats where the photos AO posted were taken).

7 seperate explosions, the city has ground to a halt, luckily fatalities seems to be low at the moment.

Netanyahu Changed Plans Due to Warning

By AMY TEIBEL, Associated Press Writer Thu Jul 7, 7:14 AM ET

JERUSALEM - British police told the Israeli Embassy in London minutes before Thursday's explosions that they had received warnings of possible terror attacks in the city, a senior Israeli official said.

Benjamin Netanyahu had planned to attend an economic conference in a hotel over the subway stop where one of the blasts occurred, and the warning prompted him to stay in his hotel room instead, government officials said.

Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom said he wasn't aware of any Israeli casualties.

Just before the blasts, Scotland Yard called the security officer at the Israeli Embassy to say they had received warnings of possible attacks, the official said. He did not say whether British police made any link to the economic conference.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the nature of his position.

The Israeli Embassy was in a state of emergency after the explosions in London, with no one allowed to enter or leave, said the Israeli ambassador to London, Zvi Hefet.

All phone lines to the embassy were down, said Danny Biran, an Israeli Foreign Ministry official.

The ministry set up a situation room to deal with hundreds of phone calls from concerned relatives. Thousands of Israelis are living in London or visiting the city at this time, Biran said.

Amir Gilad, a Netanyahu aide, told Israel Radio that Netanyahu's entourage was receiving updates all morning from British security officials, and "we have also asked to change our plans."

Netanyahu had been scheduled to stay in London until Sunday, but that could change, Gilad said.

i don't think these groups are doing it for religious reasons. every religious group has distanced themeselves from such attacks. so you can't blame any religious faction.

it's pure terrorism at its cruelest. nothing more.

I agree Jase. Fucken sick of all of it.

It was kinda weird the first thing i read was that there was an explosion in on of the train tunnels but that they thought it was two trains that smashed into each other...then saying that it occurred in the finance sector of London. that kinda twigged something in me thinking this is not what we think it is....and clearly it wasn't :(

Did anyone see Tony Blair speaking at the G8? He looked seriously shocked about it, like it would never happen. I thought only we would think like that, not politicians who get all the info about terroism being placed in front of them :?

Agreed.... on a global scale we are still quite irrelevant.

Not saying we are immune... but I know the risk level for Melbourne is still quite low.
