anyone know about best places for car insurance?

AAMI were mine, but now they want to value my car at $8k and i just paid $11.5k so it seems silly to pay $700 per year to insure it for 3/4 the price i paid for it.

is there any way to insure your car thats over ten years old for the price you paid for it or is it market value, what they say, and tough shit?

ING were good and cheap for me with my Subi... i checked a lot of places and they were best... i did have a specialised car tho, but they were still best, never claimed through them tho...

CTOAFN told me that allianz are also one of the few who part of the agreement is that they must use genuine parts for repairs can't use random substitutes.
Thats who he organised ours to be through when we got our car.

best option for mac powerbook replacement battery?

looking at nupowers from the states, $100 plus around $40 for fast shipping. reputable and still cheaper than $200 here for a mac battery....

any thoer thoughts?

FS - definitely buy from the US with the exchange rate the way it is. From memory, the replacement batteries from Apple themselves were around that price :?:

How urgently do you need it? $40 sounds like a rip for shipping. I have found that normal post (USPS) is pretty fast (everything is air mail now) and all the expedited options are inexplicably slow. If you go for standard shipping, there is probably a good chance you will get it within the week anyway.

its a risk - im leaving the country at end of month, and standard USPS will likely take 2-3 weeks, but might be more....

so going for the premium USPS makes sense - wouldn't do fedex (around 35) as they likely charge for the passage through customs...

Well, I don't think I've gotten anything in more than 7 business days (usually 7 actual days) and I live in the middle of the country. My 2c says you'd be totally fine for the end of October with normal USPS.

If it's a major concern - could you ship it to where you're going??

Kitty try Ivanhoe, down on waterdale road near banksia street theres a set of shops that has like an IGA a chemist etc etc theres also a magic shop there. Last I remember they did magic shows. I think it mwas more geared towards kids but if you spoke to them I can't see why they wouldn't be able to organise something if it's for adults.

anyone know of a transmission place?

just took the car to the mechanics, and he checked everything for me, fixed the fan belts and all. But said he can't fix the car from being sluggish sometimes because its probably the on-board computer. He has a guy i could see if i want but he's over in Airport West. Anyone know of a good one closer to the city north side by any chance?

having a dilemma...been offered a new job, is great, person working for is great, and its a good firm, and the money is okay but not right on what i wanted.

been put forward for another job, first interview hopefully this week. the job and money (really really good) are right on so far. Do i accept the other job and just stay with that? Or accept (cos i have til tomorrow afternoon to tell them) and go for the interview for the other job anyways?

i just feel really bad saying yes and potentially going for the other job. never had this happen before like this, confused!

see if you can have a few more days to consider the first offer, and if not, then hold out for the one you want imo. you'll always wonder what could have been if you settle, especially if you're not 100% sure.

otherwise, you could always accept and then reneg if you get the better one. not exactly the nicest thing to do, but employers do stuff like that all the time. yay for options lady! always nice to be spoilt for choice!

Take the job and keep persuing the other one. You have to be selfish when it's comes to jobs. Mercy is for the weak.
If you get the better job, take it. Don't worry about how they feel... they'll get over it.

Liz,

I'd contact the other job that you really want and let them know your situation - ask for an earlier interview. They'll appreciate your morals, know that you're really keen for the position and also know that you're in demand for another job... can only work in your favour, and you don't have to be a prick to anyone.

Thanks everyone for your advice. spoke to people here including some of the partners, and they said the same thing. seems i am the only one having an issue with it. even the Partners said its all fair game, and people get over it if you reject them down the track for something better. Anyone would do the same in my position.

so i am doing it! Just accepted first job and going to interview with the second one. Done and done!

Um Just wondering, does anyone here know anything about IVR systems? Companies that deal in them? Contacts I could call for information etc?

Thinking it could be god for the company I work for, I know that with most 1300 numbers you can add on a IVR with little cost but I also know you can get IVR's set up even just on standard phone numbers as reece plumbing has it set up at most of their stores.

? help

reece probs on SIP phones or something. virtual assistants would require some decent backend gear unless you get a hosted one.

No idea what SIP is :P I'm not that tech savy.
WE def would be paying a hosting fee. I found a little bit of information but most of it is attached to 13 and 1300 numbers and I'm just not sure if we really require a 1300 number especially with the costs associated with incoming calls etc I just want a very simple press 1 for Surry hills press 2 for heidelberg heights press 3 for accounts and warehouse and press 4 to hear our opening ours and address :(

I think I'm just creating too much work for myself

So my boss ended up finding an entire phone system which allows calls to be transfered between sights and if they're not answered at one even ring at the second site and allow you to know which area the call is originating from :D

I know alot of people here do graphic design etc. Wondering if anyone knows where I could go to get catalouges printed up.
We're nearly out of the current batch we have and it is in desperate need of updating.
They're A4 sized in a 3 ring binder folder glossy colour basically just pictures of our products and codes and a breif info thing about them.
Some items in the old one are gone and obviously new items have been done since we got them printed. Basically we'd need help from design up then through to printing etc etc. Or maybe even just design and a file copy and then can organise printing elsewhere and the hole punching etc etc and folders etc etc ourselves I dunno.

It doesn't contain prices cause prices change all the time so we just print those on standard paper usually just coloured and send out new price lists to our exsisting accounts to put into the catalouge but it would be so much better to update the entire thing.

Anyone got any ideas? Or happen to do this? Or want to do this?

Hey guys. We are looking for a new housemate at the moment but it's really embarrassing bringing potentials into our home given that the carpet is completely and utterly fucked (those of you who have graced my home or have lived here would understand). I have emailed the real estate agent about it but was wondering what they could possibly do or if I can explore other options. Does anybody have any insight?

hold a lighter up in teh air (distract from floor) and guide them into your (presumably) clean room
sit down, compliment them, gentle massage, tell them about the washing machine, unlimited internet, your love of cooking and then get them up and guide them down the hall once more holding the lighter aloft

say your goodbyes and kiss them passionately
new housemate bingo

I tend to agree with spambot. When potential housemates come over just stop in the hallway and start pissing on the carpet. If they look surprised tell them it is all the rage in New York. New York is the cool you know.

Also - don't blame the carpet for the fact no one wants to live with you. Half of Melbourne is homeless because there is a housing shortage and STILL no one wants to live with you.

Maybe it is because you listen to too much dubstep.

errrrrrr - havn't posted in a while. Got no form.

lol what others have said. Just say its going to be changed soon. I moved into a place with an outdoor toilet and no windows in the bathroom i.e they were missing. Was good place and mad location. Same as your joint, so stop stressing over nothing. Plus your rent is cheap as fuck
