The body shop does a good one too. Lip stain is good hey - it just sits there and does not wipe off (I guess why it is called a stain, duh elly!). But I didn't even know about it until a year or so ago, so it was a bit of a revelation for me that you could eat a meal and it's still there! Drink a coffee and it doesn't come off on the lip of your cup. This is all excellent unless you happen to:

- try on the free sample in the usual free sample colour (ie an awful red that no-one would actually buy) and realising you are stick with it for the next 12 hours.

- misapply and, for the next 12 hours, walk around looking like you have been punched in the mouth.

If you can't rub lipstick off with food or kisses, then it's paint. May as well use nail polish to coat your lips imo. Bad bad stuff. The idea that you'd be licking it all day, ingesting whatever makes it so nonremovable...worries me.

it's more of a stain though i think...inky more than painty.

surely all make up is a worry based on your idea mixxy. black 'paint' on your eyelashes, kohl around eyes, 'paint' foundation on your face etc.

i heard somewhere that over a woman's life time she'll ingest a margarine tubs worth of lipstick. i think that's more worrying than staining your lips.

Anything waterproof worries me. Mascara, eyeliner, whatevs. If I can't take it off with soap and water, or moisturiser, there's something serious in there. Like lead.

Word Elly. I tried that stuff once and missed the lines. Never again

Hey angels!
This thread is fantastic. . . Sort of like the bold and the beautiful, you can leave it one place and come back and it still revolves around the same themes, but with no slappers in it!
Loreal, i changed from it after reading what you said, but i cant find any other night cream that works as good as theirs :(. I want to know about olay? Animal sufferage?
Gnat, i was wondering if they ever made a lipstick that stays on for as long as it says. I would buy to try. Is there color range decent?

hey uly. i use aesop night moisturiser and a revlon day cream and primer. both of them are good on the no animal testing front. also aesop is good. give em a go :)

i use revlon pretty much exclusively for makeup. great range of products and colours. love the colourstay range.

and one of the pioneers for stopping animal testing: http://www.caringconsumer.com/company_revlon.asp

it's a luxury to go the double in the salon gk, but if you look great and feel a million $$$ it's worth it

(and saves on the mess with home colour, which i need to do this week :S)

Re: Chicks thread - no boys allowed

Post by ghetto kitty »

well ive woken up today and i dun like it.
theres only one way i can describe the feelings this hair colour conjures in me

SUBURBAN.

Who here did any of these things while growing up >
> dye chunks of your hair some random colour
> torture/draw on/ applique/bedazzle boring clothes
> wear army gators, or feathers, or glitter, or an ammo belt, or carry a gun with sounds as part of your going-to-the-supermarket outift
> sew random things into your hair
> get obsessed with DIY fashion

Well ive done all of them. and at some point in my mid twenties i thought ' gee it would be nice to walk down the street without gettin jibed all the time, you know, blend in a bit, wear my peircings on the inside etc etc"

after all this growing out shaved head, going to salon, trying in vain to get away from black,
i think my brief flirtation with cosmo type stylings is OVER.
i dont want to wear any beige, any crochet, any jeans and high heels, and i do NOT want hair that looks so damn 'foiled' and 'nice'

im heading back towards platform sneakers, extreme colours, and stallion blue black hair i do myself for $15.

viva la freak revolution.

im scared to do that.

i told her i wanted dramatic, i agreed to the purple colour but its BAD.
she told me no promises with the blonde bits, but the way they are, like discreet and under the other hair, is just WAY to normal, not what i was after at all.

i wanted hair as eye catching as your tashma, thats why i told her, youve got free reign pretty much.

but.

i hate it.

since you had black hair the blonde would never have come out blonde. i'd have thought that'd be kinda obvious.
all my foils are underneath too...there's just lots of them so they stand out.
if you give it a couple of weeks and wash your hair a few times the colours will start to stand out more. there would be residue from the dark colour in the purple and blonde bits, so before you dye over them again, wait and see how they look after a few washes.
my blonde bits always looks kinda grey and weird when i first get it done, but that's because some of the dark dye soaks into them when they wash it.

but seriously, if you're that unhappy with it, and have forked out over $200 for it, i'd want it to be right.

what kind of bag?

perhaps my urge to get back to my freak roots came from great op shop missions last weekend.

cream fur coat for $20 (its bunny, but im recycling!)
eighties homemade number for $5 (so hideous, so cool)
pretty much ten items of clothing for $100.

you cant do that at the basement. i hate that place.
