Cool mate, cheers.

I live in a 2 bdrm flat though, would have to do it all in the tub. Do u think with the exhaust fan on I'd be sweet?

Gotta start saving $$$ on beer expenditures me thinks...

seriously it doesnt smell. you wont need to worry about any exhaust.

the only part that smells is when you pour the stuff from the cans into the hot water. but it just pongs like beer and malt and whatever else you have in there. then it goes away.

just the bubbling you might get sick of!! haha

preeeeety cold for it. yeast stops working below like 15 degrees. it was 3 this morning. yeast go to sleep i would say.

sure once you have the yeast in, it tries its hardest to stay around the temp that you had it when the yeast was put in (cos its a chemical reaction it creates heat) but even inside it was hard to keep it above 18 degrees. the cider had to ferment for almost 3 weeks (even then i dont think it was finihsed) veeery slow fermentation that.

it doesnt stink as much as you would think Direktor.
it seems to be ok... it's bubbling away through the air lock etc...

the advise i had on the yeast is that down to about 10 degrees it will still be active. and the ideal temp for this one in particular is 12-14 degrees.

it may become inactive over night due to the low temp but the advise i've had is that it won't actually die. it will just take that much longer until we can rack it.

brewing is actually really similar to making cheese i've realised so i'm finding it pretty familiar to me! :P

yeah but the beauty of coopers is that natural brewing process
unlike other beers such as carlton which are filtered thru fish guts...

uhuh, no shit- fish guts :x

Yeast sediment is high in Vitamin B, which is meant to mean less severe hangovers. That's the word on the street anyway.

That's a good start for a gb recipe.

I think I used a reactivated coopers sparkling yeast and used brewing sugar and added some honey and lemons. My first try was the best: nice & light refreshing ginger taste with some good bubblage. Alas, all other attempts have been somewhat dissapointing.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, I LOVE a good drop as much as the rest of you, but lately I'm really loving a good pint of tap beer. Drinking heaps of Pints at Blackcat and Workshop lately, I think they have Cascade Pale, and Brown Alley has Kronenburg& Stella on tap and Pints are cheaper than their bottled beer!

I know Cascade isnt the flashest stuff around but Pints are to good to pass up.

umm that belgium beer cafe off St Kilda Rd should have them, I know they have the normal Chimay Blue which has almost the same label, but this is the aged version which is smoother. Dan Murphies usually do, otherwise boutique shops should be able to get them in for you. Any shop that stocks the others in the chimay range should be able to get them. Off the shelf they should be about $20, in a bar about $28. It's 9% alcahol, dark sweet and fruity... Toffee, choclate, orange, sultana, maple syrup kinda shin-dig.... have it with the darkest chocloate and freshest fruit you can get your hands on :)...... I really really like beer 8)

Tried little creatures Bright Ale last weekend... ended up drinking 2 six packs (over the course of the weekend).. I don't really dig the pale ale that much but I thought, "what the hell, this might be better/different"...

haven't got into a new beer for ages. really nice, pretty much rellished every sip.

mmmmmmmmm beer

oh, and a side note... they serve it at revolver :)
