Not just one person but possibly hundreds! So many people would have to think this was a good idea to be made. Serbians should be put in camps imo.

Ok... so i recommend that nobody watches A Serbian Film.. well it's up to you but my brain certainly needs a good scrubbin after the filth that is has been soaked in for the last hour or so.

after all the posts i decided to read the wiki on it. i feel soooo fuckin sick now, that is seriously the most disgusting thing i have ever read. What is the purpose of making something like that? that goes beyond Irreversible's shocking moments. Whoever thought up that needs help.

I wish i'd read the wikipedia write up first! Seriously whoever wrote that movie and funded it and was involved with it should be seeing a psychiatrist. The poor kids who were acting in the movie. They're brains can't be too healthy after playing these roles!

I just read it then too. Couldnt help myself!

Ive always thought i must be missing something when it comes to certain films where people try and ^^ "push the envelope". I dont see anything in that description of that movie that is anything other than an excuse for some fucked up person who shouldnt even have been born, to express their fucked up mind stories. Im not even sure there is a word to describe a mind like that. Saying crazy or insane would be offensive to those with mental health issues. This is FAR past that.

Sorry if thats offensive so anyone who is interested in the boundary pushing bullshit. Im sure someone will go, oh but it displayed blah blah blah, and its all relative, or whatever. That cant give ANYONE, other than a fucken chester rapist cunt, anything from a film like that. Im with you Liz.

lol American Ninja was rad actually.

my downloaded copy was stuffed and the video and audio were about 1/2 a second out, which made it looked dubbed even though it wasn't. Somehow this totally made the film better.

that is not pushing the envelope, that is just depraved and fucked up. There are enough nutbag psychos in this world, and the writer/director and everyone involved in that movie just got added to that list. Why would anyone want to imagine and then film a newborn baby being raped? Why on earth would you ever want to comprehend a small child being drugged, covered by a blanket and then being raped by their own father. I would be interested to see why the writer/director etc made it. For what reason, that isn’t “oh yeah we really wanted to push the boundaries of people’s thinking in terms of how society can be”. Ummmm how about you just watch the news dickheads. Today’s story I read this morning was a couple who held captive a guy, who was severally beaten and un-fed to the point of malnutrition and made to clean their house. Coming up on father’s day marks the one year anniversary of the father who drove his three children into a lake and watched them die. This movie did not need to be made, imo

Hardy you crack me up.

Liz - I think the arty explanasion is that is it symbolic of what the governement have done to the people.

Just when you think you are offered a secure path the economic freedom they blindside you and fuk you and your family. When you think you are safe to have kids, they fuk your kids and leave you to watch as they fuk up your life, fuk your family for their rights, fuk everything you hold dear. So you fight back, and you feel empowered by it, taking them on, only to realise they expected this and had already been watching you, and slam, they fuk you again and take what ever it was you thought you had left.

Living in Serbia - the government fuks you and your family, again and again.

actually horror movies serve a greater purpose than purely to shock IMO.

they explore, quite deliberately, the boundaries of taste and of course, everyone has different taste.

I dont want to watch this film but that doesn't mean others wont find it quite rewarding. That doesn't mean they are mental either, just into different stuff.

I remember watching Ichi the Killer for the first time and being pretty shocked by the ultra-violence. But its not real and now I can enjoy it for what it is.

A nice balanced viewpoint but fucked if people actually find that sort of film rewarding. I love trying to find some cultural/political/philisophical message to every film I watch but I cannot see the point of A Serbian Film beyond pushing the envelope for the sake of it.
