CDJ800 mk2 VS CDJ1000 mk3
CDJ800 mk2 VS CDJ1000 mk3
I'm looking at getting one (er...2) of these. Are the 1000's worth splashing out on or are they too similar? Suggestions anyone?

DJ HARDY IN 'SOUR RIP' CONVONVERSY
:TEEF:
I suspected that the 1000's are essentialy $500 worth of gadgets i'll never use or need. Interested in more opinions though. Josh?

Yeah i'm not too fussed about effects, my plan is to get a mixer with that stuff built in. Glad to hear it is nice to use though, thanks for the feedback!SoulWhiteMan wrote:I've used the CDJ800 mk2 on the weekend.
Rock solid and intuitive
it does not have wave display, or onboard effects.
BUT the effects you could get from a dj mixer or external unit.
It still has the looping and scratching capabilities you'd expect, and the sound quality is tip top.

the denons are good but really no different to the pioneers in the end, the difference is that you get a pitrch bend button for +/- instead of using a wheel
the revolving platter is of no significance when mixing cds imo
if u wanna use ur cdjs for more than just standard mixing with a few tricks (ie simple loop functions) then cdj800s are fine, the difference is what steve says, memory card etc, sampler in it for pressing so it says your name over your mixes or some wanky shit like that
theres also a dual unit i forget the model name but its pioneer and has pitch bend buttons if thats the reason youd look at denons? i dunno, im happy with 800s

I'm the very happy owner of some DS-3000s , essentially the rival to the 800 - ie no crazy sound effects.
The scratch platter is fantastic, and to be 100% honest, I like the "feel" of the pitch buttons more than Pioneers jog wheels.
Catch 22 is, every club has pioneers.
BUT
in my personal experience, and that of my friends too, it is Easier to go from Denon -> Pioneer than the other way around.
You'll pick up the jog wheels on a pioneer quicker than the denons buttons; I've had DJs use my Denons at parties and they shit themselves; I've used their decks at their houses no problems.
And for mixing drum and bass (which I don't do that much of, admittedly) I think the pitch bend buttons would be more your thing, because you can "nudge" a track more intuitively than on the pioneers.
Also, ask around, you can get some DS-3000s for around 1400 second hand.
Thats what i did, never looked back.
get traktor.

Buy what you will be using in the clubs - I had Stantons at home and every time I played out I had to get used to the way the Technics control the records which always took a few tunes.
Same goes for CDJ's too. No clubs have Denons so you will forever be swapping and changing and getting used to different way they work.
Plus the denons spin platter is way too touchy and from what I've been told, most poeople use the pitch bend buttons instead so what is the use of the thing spinning anyway?
