nah, you know what i mean. this kinda stuff:
"
'This is a word for word quote of me talking nonchalently about my views on whatever that aren't exactly what you want to write about,' says John Smith, local douche.
I hate everything about what you write about, he added, without quotation marks.
Which advances the point of my now-inflammatory article. John Smith is a liberal apologist douche bag titfucker that hates freedom and everything i stand for.

I reckon this fucker likes Breaks and is jealous of our DnB community...oooooo did somebody lose Fractured?
minimal beast: nothing minimal about DnB music!
NOT GENERALISING EVER!!!!!!!!
Khalil Hegarty has managed to make my no.2 on most hated public enemy. No.1 goes to F***** (cant say this persons name!).
- and its not you Fenton...
militant outlook: what, you mean the camo clothing some people wear? The musical prowess disappeared, giving way to an aggressive, almost militant outlook. For the past few years English drum'n'bass has devolved into an angry, minimal beast that scowls at the uninitiated. Of course, there are exceptions. One of the few artists to maintain a strong and soulful attitude is High Contrast, aka Lincoln Barret."

I love the Minimal side of dnb, and there is quite a lot of it, alot of tek dnb is minimal, and D-Bridge, Fierce, C4C and the like can do some sick minimal beats, like Carrier.Amick wrote:minimal beast: nothing minimal about DnB music!

Minimal as in simplistic, i think programming any DnB choon takes brains.quick wrote:I love the Minimal side of dnb, and there is quite a lot of it, alot of tek dnb is minimal, and D-Bridge, Fierce, C4C and the like can do some sick minimal beats, like Carrier.Amick wrote:minimal beast: nothing minimal about DnB music!
"His musical tints have found him fans well beyond the blinkered visions of conventional drum'n'bass artists."
So basically the writer is describing drum and bass as inflexible, narrow-minded, constrained and pretty much all the same,...except for our 'savior', high contrast who has saved us from all this shitty dnb. hmmmm....thank god there is high contrast to save us from the horrid 'conventional' dnb producers like teebee, klute, break and calibre.
WTF
also, what is up with "He distances himself from drum'n'bass, declaring he rarely listens to it "other than to pick tracks to play in my set".
...WTF?
????? ?????

Minimal and simplistic are very different, I think the way the writer means it, is not in a simplistc way, but more a small amount of variation in the layers and sounds coming from the tunes.Amick wrote:Minimal as in simplistic, i think programming any DnB choon takes brains.quick wrote:I love the Minimal side of dnb, and there is quite a lot of it, alot of tek dnb is minimal, and D-Bridge, Fierce, C4C and the like can do some sick minimal beats, like Carrier.Amick wrote:minimal beast: nothing minimal about DnB music!

I think his view of it reflects what mainstream dnb was 2-3 or so years ago, which was a good time for the popular sounding dnb. Will wrote:Heh. It's kinda funny. Most of us are objecting the way Khalil perceives dnb, whereas that's the way Quick actually wants it to be.

Hidden Agenda write ace minimal tunes. I wouldn't call Paradox stuff minimal at all.

for sure man, no arguments on that. but their tunes (solo and/or together) are seriously complex. like the giant tiramisu of breakizms.Ag3nT[]0raNg3 wrote:not even nucleus stuff? some of that shit is just beats. dont ask me to name tracks right now.

nah, there's enough amicable conversation in here. music's about emotion and insane focus.Amick wrote:AO & System, agree to disagree ya punks.
lets keep it opinionated and edgey if I can't even get a skerrick of humour out of people like Hardy!

Hey, there's no time for humour in happiness in music .system wrote:nah, there's enough amicable conversation in here. music's about emotion and insane focus.Amick wrote:AO & System, agree to disagree ya punks.

No Soul was on Marine Parade and was not part of an album - altho I suppose you could say it was part of the ILS album if you pushed it.system wrote:..released from albums, yes.TimmyG wrote:Weren't Return of Forever and No Soul Remix singles?High Contrast Interview wrote:Most drum'n'bass artists make singles on a bunch of different labels," he says bluntly. On a related note, anyone go to High Contrast? And what where your
thoughts?
I for one previously only had the highest regard for High Contrast
and enjoyed his last album (High Society) immensely. I would like to now say
that never again in my life will I pay more than $1 to see him.
About the first hour of his set was half decent, but WTF was with the clown
step shit?! For someone who is supposed to lean to the musical side of
drum and bass he sure did play a lot of jump up.
Perhaps like some other Djs that have come out he regards Melbourne as
a place that couldn't/wouldn't enjoy his sound so he opted for the crowd
pleaser.
Problem was, he couldn't read the crowd and just kept on with the jump
up, and it wasn't even good jump up!
Phew! glad I got that of my chest.
Also anyone know who wrote the "still a friend of mine" remix originally by
Incognito, its gota be a Hospital Dub cause Nu:Tone played it while he
was out as well.
thoughts?

Doesn't take a genius to read that sort of reaction and adjust your set
accordingly.
