Laptop repairs

let it dry out completely for quite a while, then try again. taking it in for repairs will cost you $$$$$ and probably have to involve the manufacturer as all the parts & hw are completely custom.

Keep it apart and let it dry out completely, hopefully may fix it.

the worst thing iv ever done to my machine was get the billy water all over the k/board, but i think most of us have done that at one time or another

depends on how badly damaged it is by the water. ive managed to dry out laptops totally and they work fine. mind you they were off and we didnt try to turn them on once we knew they had water in em.

if it doesnt turn on after drying you will have to send it off.

Indeed.

Electrical things are usually all cool after water damage - providing they were never on whilst they were wet.

Very important that you completely dry it out before turning it on as Foo said, although if you've already turned it on - I'd reckon there's a good chance it may have fried.

for what it's worth, i poured about half a litre of water into my thinkpad twice in the course of a week and it worked fine after drying out.

yeah, water is the least of your worries. dr pepper's about the worst you can do.

some of the ones like the toughbooks are, well, tough.

Might be too late - but I've heard that hair drying it will help speed up your drying process.

haven't tried it myself though

a full beer was poured into my macbook pro over a year ago now and it still works fine.... just let it dry out.

So I can FULLY recommend pouring beer in your computer, it's not just for humans.

yeah i reckon just dry it out... if you dry it out, then it wont be wet, and the water that was on it, wont be there anymore, so you will have no problem...

still works but has that broken lcd rainbow spider thing in the bottom right corner
