just got a paid acct (solo, 79 euros) yesterday and its awesome
to be able to bang heaps of mixes up and not worry about links expiring etcetc, plus all the networking/following artists side of it
tis becoming the standard for sure

It's allright. The ability to comment on mixes or tracks using the clock/ time reference is greta.
I use reverbnation.com - its better for manaing fans etc.

Love it!

Simple, intuitive, nice lay out. Not cluttered.

Joined last week at a friends request, thanked them for it.

well worth it, for a hosting solution for music par excellence.

that said, it's primarily a service/platform aimed and the musician for professional use - not as a myspace style thing for artist <-> fan interaction (a la reverbnation etc).

not really no. the feature set and api is superb.

i'm not sure about that, its pretty easy to send people, be they artists or fans, a direct link to your track/mix. and the big orange play button is pretty hard to miss, and fails a lot less than shitty myspace players. plus download button/linkage is neverfail + easy!

I know ya can insert tunes from SC into certain forums, the Admin just have to set up the code so you can type;

View this on Soundcloud

and your tune will appear without having to visit the site

just put /download after the track link (or copy link location from the download button same thing), and then u could turn that into a bit.ly or similar shortlink or whatever if u wanted

eg. http://soundcloud.com/protein-shake/pro ... x/download
-> http://bit.ly/26YMSb

:)

To be fair I really doubt the overhead is that much.

Less than lots of images for sure.
