Shackleton (Skull Disco - UK - LIVE) - Friday 12th March

Yes it's true! Yes it's happening! Shackleton is coming to Australia shores for something of a one off tour and its happening all in March. With shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane this is very special and Melbourne will be looking at hosting the first of the three shows so its up to us the give the man a very warm Melbourne welcome! It all kicks off in Melbourne on March 12th in the very fine surroundings of Miss Libertine hosted by Kiss & Tell Touring. A lineup has been put together that reflects the eclectic sound of the main man with RRR FMs own Declan Kelly who has supported international guests across many styles including Kevin Saunderson, Prefuse 73, Theo Parrish, Roisin Murphy, Matthew Herbert, Manitoba/Caribou and Tom Middleton. Also featured is local hero Bass Bin Laden who after sharing the stage with the likes of Skream, Benga, Tipper, Starkey, Bassnectar and Vibe Squad to name but a few is more then qualified to destroy Melbourne heads! Also hidden gem Raptor, Kiss & Tell founder grl and Minimal-Tek obsessive Matthew Newman to keep us moving til late late. Shackleton's maverick take on big basslines and complex beats doesn't fit into easy categories and that's how it's going to stay. Shackleton has been carving out his own brand of eclecticism on Skull Disco releases so far with intricate, snaking percussion, hypnotic melodies, seriously deep bass lines and dubwise sensibilities.

"This guy is like a tribal shaman with the hypnotizing beats. Everytime I put his stuff on, I'm instantly transported to lush rainforests and sand dunes... and i'm not even stoned!" - Turntable Lab

"Shackleton has managed to infuse an already-signature aesthetic with new elements and has created an otherworldly sound, as much in tune with with the Middle East as it is with outer space." - One Thirty BPM

Friday 12th March
Miss Libertine - 34 Franklin St, Melbourne
$15 on door only - 9PM to 3AM
$5 basic spirits/$2.50 pots of draught from 9PM to 10PM so get down early

Bass Bin Laden (PBS - 106.7FM)

MY BEDROOM IS PAINTED RED. ITS A HORRIBLY VIOLENT SHADE OF RED BUT I'M AFRAID TO CHANGE IT BECAUSE I FEEL I MIGHT MAKE LESS AGGRESSIVE MUSIC IF I DO.

that was seriously awesome.... Shackleton was BRILLIANT.. the sound was mega on point... at one point I turned to Heggsy and said "that's the best kick drum sound I've ever heard" Epic tunes, heard stuff I'd missed on the vinyl... and I've got most of shackleton's records...

my only gripe is that he only played for 1 hour... could easily have listened to that for 2 or 3
