For those that don’t know. The Resident Bass Sound Clash is a monthly survivor-style tournament. DJs in the Proving Grounds will get an hour b2b slot. The 2 challengers will battle it out for the crowd’s vote so they can move into the next month.

DJs can play 3-5 songs before changing over with the other DJ.

If a DJ is being unfair and taking too long to make the change over the MC will force the switch.

DJs can drop any tune, any style, any genre, whatever they think will win the crowd’s vote.

In the event of a loss, the loosing DJ will not get the chance to play at the
next resident bass and will have to wait for the month after to reapply for a place.

The winning DJ will have the opportunity to play in the next month’s Resident’s Room. DJs in the Resident’s Room get an hour set and freedom to drop any banga, thumper, winder or grinder of a tune. Resident Room DJs are judged by an anonymous Round Table of self proclaimed experts who will be picking the stand out DJ of the night. That DJ will get the opportunity to do a mix for the official Resident Bass Mix CD and a spot in the end of year Grand Final.

Winners will be judged by YOU, so get down early for some hektic action and the happy hour (between 10-12) Come down between 5-9 and get $5 entry with a side of mellow beats from the Resident Bass kru.

not dissing the night but was wondering what the sounclash element was, as its billed as one.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_clash

...not meaning to bring Heartical into it.

bonsai. soundsystems have been playing in soundclash comps for over 50 years now.

i find it pathetic that you would take issue with someone naming something 'soundclash' just because it differs to wikipedia (and a shitter of a description too).

its like people having issues with the use of 'underground' when naming events

my immense apologies for having no clue about soundclash/soundsystem details. I know its heartbreaking.

respect to the resident bass crew for throwing this gig. looking forward to it bigtime.
Sound Clash
Usually the Sound systems in the sound clash will play for a set time - say 30 minutes before switching. This time interval gets shorter and shorter, so when playing returns to one sound again, he or she may only play a shorter time. Finally, near the end of the clash they go song on song or "Dub fi dub" (which obviously requires dual mixing consoles) resulting in an awesome gig.
shouts to the worst wiki page ever created.

'awesssum'

Well I do apologies for my query but if i see a night advertised as a sound clash then thats what i'd expect to see if i paid my $18 entry.

No need to apologise for your lack of understanding, but i thought the wickedpedia link might be of some help to you to understand soundsystem and clash concept as your post suggested a lack of knowlege.

Like I said I'm not dissing anyone or anything, but seeing how you jumped defensively and feet first does makes me wonder....

Maybe this provides a better explanation of 'Soundclash' -

http://www.windrushpickney.com/wrp/inde ... &Itemid=26

You'll find that many genres of music over the years have taken direct influence from this particular style of party.
No one's having a go at anyone.Just letting you know that it exists is all.

Good Luck boys!!!!!Hope the gig goes well :)

Have to admit I was thinking the same thing Rob! And AC23 and Bonsai too but looks like Steve has pulled out.

You're proving yourself so you can become a resident?

Seems a strange concept to me, but something different i suppose.

Nah don't get it twisted :) Never pulled out ... promoter should learn not just to stick people on fliers.

Was quiet lolz when I saw my name tbh.
I think you're supposed to still be on there with ctoafn, 2am-3am

Hey Steve
Sorry dont really post on these forums.
Prefer to sort things out in person but we were pretty sure we had confirmed you for this gig months ago.
Your right we made a mistake posting the set times.
If you dont want to play then dont play.

regards, Resident Bass crew

meaning that the venue is open from 5pm and the main event starts at 9.

Looking forward to your set. peace.

Pretty solid turnout, wasnt a bad night to be honest although I to take off early for work the next morning. The idea is interesting and yeah it is a bit weird to see established DJ's in the side room with newbies playing in the main room but concept is different.

Steve - Was looking forward to going B2B with you ftw mate - bloody piker lolz ;-)

Unfortunately we had sound issues in the front room which were unavoidable but Scoob managed a Herculean effort to get sorted after doing Soundwave all day too and every other festival in Australia the last 4 months straight.

Next one should be good with a few tweaks to the night but that comes with practice, gotta say there were lots of pretty girls there though which always helps!!!

I didnt enjoy it. Had 3 set time changes. 1 a week before and then another on the actual day. Canceled a paying gig to play - which i could have made if they'd sorted set times originally. I didn't even get a thank you from any of the organizers for coming down to play. :(

The venue sound restrictions sucked aswel - had our sound levels turned down repeatedly by bar staff and sound tech. And the sound system issues also put a negative spin on the event.

Dont get me wrong, when the place was working, it worked well. Just a pity about the poor organization with DJs and the sound issues. I think the krew were aiming a bit too high. If it was just the one room, the place would have been rocking. Hoping the next event will go smoothly, cause it has some real potential!!

whoever took my purple technics is a cunt, please return them :)

putting on parties is a lot harder than it looks when everythings working smoothly... these guys have a great group of freinds and supporters, im sure they will nail it in the future.

was in pain when electro was playing in both rooms, got me out the door and off to roxannes for the start of dizz1's show... thanks, dutch acid and gaslamp followed which was one of the wildest combos of my life... anyways

Word to this.

Pretty much agree with all of the above. Rocked up to set times being pushed back at least 1 hr. Security asked me to turn my fucking hat around at least 10 times, and they were complete fuckwits to boot (except Simon, legend of a bloke).
Couldnt find anyone running the gig to get drink cards and 'VIP' pass.
Set times and vs matchups changed at least 5 times before and during the gig.
Sound was completely mangled and disappointing when I was there, no highs or mids just booming subs shaking the walls of the room (which is a good sign for the future in the subbass region). Its pretty piss poor for the organisers to blame the sound guy for the issues. There should ALWAYS be a soundcheck beforehand.

I think next time try and do less on setup and more on creating a solid, working soundrig and one room.

the security were the stupidist fucks to ever fuck a fuck. Unforunately sound wasn't the best but Scoob has been working like a mad cunt to even get it there in the middle of the festival season, but Scoob puts together sum of the best sound systems in Melbourne.

Set times are difficult with so many DJ's. Probably suggest b2b for 2 hours instead of one maybe.

Albeit I think the next one should kick ass tho with some fine tuning, as long as I can wear my back forwards hey lol ;)
