So what is the market leader now? Almost got the S4 when it came out but now Numark has its options out I am wondering what to go for.
Want 4 channels and all the trimmings.

Direkt? You played with everything that is out?
Anything else due worth waiting for?

Traktor Control S4. Its where the argument starts and ends.

Come over to mine D and have a play and I'm sure you'll agree.

I have to say from the little time I have had on both I do prefer Traktor to Itch.

Can anyone tell me what the key design differences are between the two programs and therefore units?

***disclaimer - I represent Numark Australia***

NS6 will be closer to $1499 and due in Oz in 3-weeks. I think I've seen it for around $1449 here and there.

Basically... NS6 is tailor built for 4-channel Serato Itch (a controller version of Serato), whereas NI's S4 is for Traktor, although both can be mapped to use any software.

The S4 is an awesome controller and more affordable than NS6. NS6 is built as a more professional unit (4 x audio ins, solid metal construction etc). With the NS6, you can use it as a true 4-channel mixer, routing turntable and CDJ's through it - 2 x mic inputs, balanced XLR outputs, as well as controlling 4-channels of computer based DJ'ing via the bundled Serato Itch - or your software of choice. I've found the layout and design of the NS6 to be very smart and intuitive - as have all the reviews I've read.

As mrj says, it all begins with S4 - but it certainly doesn't end there! Numark have taken their time coming to market with NS6 - and I'm in love with it... very awesome. It certainly builds on the legacy of their NS7 and V7 controllers.

Ultimately, both units are very cool - I guess it depends on what sort of feature set you're after, and what your budget restrictions are.

Dboy - come to the NS6 product launch at Store DJ on Tues 2nd August. There's free beer, prizes and your chance to try the NS6 - and buy it at a great price!

Fark that, just plug a shitty ipoo into the line for realistic dj styles.
I mean its not as if anyone cares about a dj's toys and obviously not many of them care about good music.
So plug it in, walk away, have a beer and relax, the future has arrived. :changingteam:

Could have saved yourself $50-100 and seen a sweet demo on the power of the unit from Wasabi, and enjoyed some beers with me!

I wouldn't leave it too long mate, stock was very low after the launch. I think Sydney sold out the other night and Brisbane only had one left as of last night. There will be more stock in 2-3 weeks time if sold out.

well I'd argue if its actually a 4 deck controller. yes it has four faders, but as far as stop/start, platters, effects etc its only two. Its the same with the S4.

I've found that to be quite limiting on the S4 actually. I've been doing a fair bit of (terrible) mash up stuff lately and I've found that having to switch the controls between Deck A and Deck C to be annoying and limiting, as often you want to change something on Deck A and C simultaneously, because you are also adjusting something on Deck B or D or have a loop playing there or something. The sample banks aren't good enough for filling this gap.

I would love to see a true 4 channel controller. one that gave control of all elements of each channel simultaneously. Not at all required for normal house/techno/progressive etc mixing, but for doing mash up shit where you sometimes have three to four decks going at once and are cutting between things quite quickly (maybe only playing each song for or loop for 30 seconds or so) then it would be a real help.

Maybe I need to map my X1 to get it to control decks C and D or something, in fact thats probably the answer.

Still I reckon theres still a need for something like this.

would be a lot of weight, size and cost added for what you're asking.

other than pitch fader position (which is almost moot in sync mode), everything else that you change on the 'A' layer should not over-ride or alter anything on the 'B' layer. Doesn't on the NS6 to my knowledge anyway, I'm not overly familiar with the Denon or S4.

Again, I don't know if the S4 of MC6000 offer this, but just by hitting the headphone cue button on the NS6, your layer and settings automatically change to the corresponding layer of the cue button you have just engaged - which is a pretty cool and intuitive design feature imo. The pitch fader also has LED's to let you know where you need to be if it's position has been changed.

On the S4 there is a button on each deck that switches the controls for deck A to be used to control Deck C, and B to D. My problem is that often I want to adjust something on A and C simultaneously (such as looping, cue point triggers, or even just stop start), but I cant because they share the same controls. Its frustrating and limiting.

couldn't you use an X1 or something for that?

Yeh I lent my X1 to someone but I think I might get it back as it prob will solve the problem.
