On Jan 14, 2005 the Melbourne Beats crew along with some 700+ people raised around $17,000 for the Asia Quake & Tsunami appeal. This forum is an archive of the organisational discussion for the event.

Hey, it just ocurred to me.
If we're going to be printing off a first run of flyers, they'll need to be done at 300dpi, yeah?
Did valuetime send you hi-res versions of his art work?
Hi-res Melbourne Beats logo here.

i think this is only for the initial run of flyers, a quick mock up to get the word out over the weekend, then we're doing a slicker one for the massive run off yeah?
give us your thoughts, i admit im not a designer, so anyone who can volunteer their efforts in making one look prettier... please be my guest. though time is of the essance.
peace.

Look good to me too - only thing I'd do is see if the cassette in the background can stand out any more but apart from that, its pretty darn good.

about to email you an eps of the tape image.
decided to have a quick crack at the poster and tried to simplify it a little. got rid of the coloured text because it'll prolly be a b/w print. i'll attach that as well so you can add the logos to the footer if you think it's ok.

hmm I kinda like the white background with
Red Cross in
Red
I like the tape with band aid like that though (as opposed to watermark) - cleaner and easier to see

given the small amount of promo time I'd put the elements that will draw interest as high profile as possible
ACTS
PURPOSE
then BLURB
then DATE
then COST and logo placements
On a double sided flyer you can spend more time on aesthetics, but for a one sided you gotta make sure nothing gets lost.
but clear typeface, great colours and a great image ... ill flyer for .24 seconds turnaround time valuetime

The white one looks smart, and the red one grabs the attention right away. Can we do red for posters, and white for flyers? Since we're habding the flyers straight to people?

imho, it's prolly best to pick one colour or the other for consistency and simplicity. but happy to do two versions.
lynt, are you happy for me to do it? if so, can you send those footer logos you've got on your version (agentmad, etc)?

I don't believe we have actually contacted them, so they aren't 'supporting' us. I'm sure they'll take our money, but I think it would be safer not to use their logo without their permission. Don't want to run any risks.... I think we should leave it as saying that all donations go there

Done... they have no issues with us saying: "All prodeeds from this event will go to support the Australian Red Cross Asia Quake and Tsunami Appeal" or something to that effect. But we CAN NOT use the logo....

Just had a suggestion - Put the price next to "Show Your Support" - makes sense I think
(and sell em on the DJs before you tell em how much it is)
