ummmm....
I mean with artist bios, info, gigs etc... set out properly with a search etc.
Also a venue and promoter list/directory would be cool too.
I know this site already works and a brilliant communication tool for DJs, promoters and Venues but if this was set out in a directory style it would be more useful to outsiders too.

Yeah I know what you mean... I think there's one on ITM and RA, never use it though. What you think Chan Man?deviant wrote:ummmm....

Re:
For the record, it's pretty easy to hook into phpBB's SQL database for information. As an example, you could create a new hidden forum called "DJ Directory" that only a few mods could see, then they'd create posts that looked like:lynt wrote:Yeah I know what you mean... Subject: "Butter Party, Melbourne, Tech-funk"
Message body: "<DJ biography here in BBcode>"
Then you could write a simple php directory script which displayed that information by querying the phpBB SQL database. It'd be enough if people could search by DJ name, city and style yeah?
If that worked you could do the same thing for promoters etc. Question is, would people use it, and how long would it stay up to date for?

Re: Melbournebeats DJ directory
Oooh, or even better - you could let users add keywords to their profile interests, eg "DJ:Breaks,Dubstep,Electro" or "Promoter:Melbourne" and write a phpBB script that generates a list of melbournebeats users who meet whatever search criteria is specified, eg "Breaks DJs in Melbourne". It'd put the responsibility on the user to keep correct information. You could put a sticky up telling people how to format their interests field properly.
