Distortion help
Not an expert when it comes to turntables .... but just got a new record in that distorts like all buggery ....
I know my stylus pretty old but it doesn't do it on any other rekkid ....
Have i got a shite cut, or is there cases where you might need to adjust weight on the arm or sumpin?? ..... Can too much/too little weight distort a record???

A distortion - as in white noise, or is it clips and pops?
If it's white noise the record is rinsed, and throw it away.
If it's a few clicks or pops - you can re-record it into something like protools, then draw them out with the pencil function.
Or use a good de-clicker or popper, but I find I get better results doing it by hand.
Just a suggestion.
I have so many records I can't play any more - hope you sought it out.

its because different genres tend to stick to certain vinyl pressing companies, ie most dnb/jungle will be pressed by the same 2-3 plants, most dance/trance wil be pressed by a different 2 companies etc. Most labels/ producers tend not to shop around for a better sound. I have no idea why but we are trying to change that.
