A massive thank-you to all those who came down to Lee Burridge on Feb 10. It was a definite highlight of the year so far - and we will continue to bring you the same level of quality acts throughout 2006...

Now:

Darkbeat & Fractured are proud to present...

Phil K

One of Australia's leading DJ's - Phil K brings his unique take on all things twisted back to Darkbeat!

Do not miss your chance to see Phil ripping it up before he jets off to tour the world promoting his new Lo Step album (along with Luke Chable) to be released on Global Underground.

Never predictable - yet always entertaining - we are excited to welcome Phil back!

Blueprint [LIVE]

Blueprint, aka Glenn Rogers, is fast becoming one of the rising stars in the breaks scene. Sharing the stage with the likes of Plump DJ's, Rennie Pilgrem, Future Funk Squad, Drummatic Twins, Tayo and Chris Carter,
Blueprint is garnering support from all time zones for his take on breaks.

Blueprint brings his live act complete with v-drummers and a vocalist to Darkbeat, for what promises to be one of the most energetic live sets of the year..

Last time I saw Phil K at that room place in Hawthorn he cleared the place before he played his third tune. Just fucking dreadful......
For a hyped DJ he was incredibly second rate on that night.
Blueprint though...good stuff.

Hmmmmmmmm..................................

Just to add another viewpoint to this I saw Phil K play at Sunny 8th Birthday and I left that party wholeheartedly convinced that he is the best DJ in the world.

He was blowing minds left, right, and centre. I saw experienced Melbourne DJ's and succesfull producers shaking their heads in disbelief and amazement at the originality and compositional complexity of his mixing and programming. I saw a very experienced and knowledgeable Melbourne punter walk up to him crying at the end of his set and gave him one of the most sincere thank-you's I have ever seen in my life.

The fact that it fell flat at Room really doesn't suprise me. The reality is at any given event at Room there is going to be a lot of people in there who don't really give a shit who the DJ is, and for the most part are not exactly the most forward thinking people when it comes to music. At Room the crowd is a lot more heavily weighted with people who want to be entertained, rather than educated.

Personally, I want both and Phil K has done it better for me than any other DJ ever.

A Sunny crowd reaction is a much better acid test of a DJ's ability and talent. Sunny crowds are knowledgable, keen to be educated, and enthusiastic. In short they know their stuff.

For Phil K to blow away as many people as he did that night I believe speaks volumes for him as a DJ.

my two cents

i want phil k to play the style he used to play back at seven fractured. That was the shiznit, played some really dirty wicked breaks sets, that set the crowd going nuts.
all the stuff ive heard of him of late has been no where near the same as back then, more alternative etc...

but i guess well have to see what he plays at BA :D

Yes, we now have some extra special guests!

FRI 3rd MARCH

Fractured & Darkbeat present...
DIE (UK) / CLIPZ (UK)
Phil K / Blueprint [LIVE]

Die grew up surrounded by music, his parents took him to festivals and as well as his dad's guitar playing, he loved everything from house to hardcore. When he found hip-hop Die's passion for music really kicked in and it was around 1988 that Die met Krust and the Fresh Four crew and really got into mixing as a DJ which led him to the sounds of Drum & Bass.

Full Cycle was established and in 1994 Die's first collaboration with Roni 'Agility' was released for V recordings. Soon after, Roni and Die produced 'Music Box', and the work-hard play-hard perfectionist began forging his own style and in 1997, Reprazent gave him
international acclaim as one of the four producers for the New Forms album awarded the Mercury Music Prize.

Currently, he is just putting the finishing touches to the 'The Lost Plates' album for Full Cycle which features unreleased tracks from Roni Size, Krust and Die - to be released in early 2006.

DJ Clipz, Full Cycle protoge is a prolific producer who already has a discography longer than many and tunes like 'Cocoa' and 'Funk Physics' are already classics. Clipz has always striven to take his music to a new audience and this led him to producing his debut album entitled 'Livin Drumz' which was out in June 2005 to great success.

Also appearing on the night are Aus breaks legends Phil K and live act Blue Print.

OK I've just shut down the other thread. Keep it all sorted.

I just wanna big up the fact that SamBora is coming to town and playing at this event.

He'll have fresh cuts from Digital and his pals at Timeless, I know Shapeshifter have finished, to single stage, at least 1 new tune, and all 5 of the shapshifter boys are locked down in the studio in Kaikoura till at least June so they will be cranking out tune after tune.
Plus, Sam and Dreadford are making some new Junglistic goodness now that now that they have a couple of their tunes out on Timeless!!
And as well he's in NZ so he would have been kicking it with all the NZ DnB crews over the summer and will have their dubplate goodness as well!!

All in 90 mins!!

Happy times I like! :D :D

What an end to an awesome night!! I'll be front and centre. Tell your friends!
