Sure Depp will be great, as can be expected, but I'm really really hanging to see what Tim Burton can do with the visuals. All of his films are visually spectacular (i think).

Sin City is based on a comic, I believe. Uh, some of you may be interested in this, but Jessica Alba plays a stripper.

Is anybody else hanging out for the new Batman film? Apparently it's going to be darker than the other films, more similar to the comic.

I'm kinda waiting for Bale to do some more demented serial killer stuff... never quite got over his performance in American Psycho.

Mellogs... isn't Ryan Reynolds Van Wilder/Berg from Two Guys and a Girl? Oh, wasn't he also the funny guy in the new Blade movie?

mecka: he lost 30 kgs for the machinist (which i wanna see) before he did batman. trailer at apple.com.

also, i hired man on fire. bit jerky, but good. it's the first movie i've ever seen that actually incorporated the subtitles into the composition of the screen instead of sticking them down the bottom. nice.

I thought the film was visually spectacular, really good but not one of Jean Pierre Jeunet's best. 4 Stars. How about you Margaret (err.. I mean, Will)?

Fuck you Tim. I am so more David than you.

Visually stunning but I think a lot of the subtlety maybe got lost in translation.

Not as good as Amelie or City of Lost Children.

I don't know why you bothered saying that. Masumi Max is so much more than her big boobs and pouting lips. If you don't know, I'm not even going to bother explaining.

Now we know that Will is into the 'thinking mans porn' a porn snob? :P last months issue of desktop was all about sex, and had a bit on some chick pornographer. Sex Sex Sex thats all they think about...

Anyway back on topic...

I just orderd in, from HMV of all places! Crumb, the Terry Zwigoff film. Cant wait to get it to see it again.

And just saw that outfoxed ting, verry funny and interesting.
That's so plausible I can't believe it!

I just went and saw Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

Very retro in the way it does things. I fucking hate Gwenyth Paltrow - but I have to admit she's perfect for the role she's in. Jude Law is at his smarmy best. Angelina Jolie... well... hehehe.

The visuals are spectacular. Every single frame of the movie has had some sort of digital effect applied to it. I've heard that the entire movie was shot against a greenscreen as well. No physical backdrops. It looks and feels like no other movie I've ever seen. Everything has a soft glow effect applied to it.

The plot isn't bad. It's very 1950s flying hero (as you would expect). Few things left unexplained.

Go see it for the visuals alone.

some recommendations for this month:

films
- Kinsey
- Ray
- House of Flying Daggers (only for the awesome cinematography and production... the story line didn't really do it for me, but those bamboo fighting scenes are to die for.)

saw closer on the wknd. worth a look for clive owen's kickass character (just in case you need more inspiration than seeing natalie portman doing the splits while wearing pink anal floss).

coffee and cigarettes is also good (out on DVDA).

biggest load of wank ever. the first scene and the bill murray/rza/gza scene were the only funny ones.
