i'd just like to say a huge big the fuck up to challenge, brad hodge, aaron hamill, and everyone at the royal children's. if I had just been selected to play in the australian cricket team and had to play in the boxing day test tomorrow, odds are I probably wouldn't be up at 5am on christmas day, doing the rounds of all the cancer patients handing out training caps, shirts, and whole bloody cricket bats (!) to all the kids. him, hamill (st kilda, afl), and corey mckernan (ex nth/carlton, afl) all came in today and did the rounds and chatted to all the kids and parents (apparently they all stayed for at least 10min -- that's a fair whack of time you could be spending in bed, or with your own family), early in the morning. challenge also organised massive hampers for all the parents with a ton of gourmet food, some wine I believe, and some random pamper-yourself products (which, when your son's spending months in hospital, you don't get a lot of time to do -- *every* *time* I've been there, one of them has been there keeping him company). and I tell you what, I've seen a lot of mum's side of the family over the past couple of months when all this has been going down, and I haven't seen them this happy since. not even when the patient got released for a couple of days, and saw the outside of the ward for the first time in a month and a bit, or something.

and the staff are pretty uniformly sensational. again, christmas day, working. but they're all bright, chirpy, useful, and they get on wonderfully with everyone there. so thanks everyone for making this kid, the parents, and by extension the whole side of mum's family really happy, because it's been pretty trying on everyone (especially the parents; they're from bendigo, and there are four kids in that family, so they've all had to relocate to one room in ronald mcdonald house, and no-one has any idea what they're going to do with work/school/whatever), and challenge/rch/hodge/hamill/mckernan all did their part to make a few people who they will probably never see again, very very happy.

Seriously, where would we be without our families.
They bring us into this world, they care for us, nurture us, feed us, and pretty much do everything they can to make our lives safe, pleasant and better in any way possible. (well for most ppl neway)
I sometimes forget how important and great families are. And being around them all again today really has reminded me how important it is.

I know im probably sounding like a dork, but i dont give a shit. Your family is always going to be apart of you and the more we apprieciate everything they do for us, the more greatful we become..
Having a fun time in portsea with the whole 30 cousins and family members (gets a bit crazy at times, but also sooo fun).. Annoyed i cant make dom & roland, but theres always other parties to attend..

Have a merry holidays everyone..
And big Ups for new years and for 33.333333333333

big ups all my wonderful mates who made it to the impromptu party at my place on monday night. from the spur of the moment decision to have people over at about 5pm to it being in full swing at 8pm - what a night. no more punch or mojitos for a little while me thinks!
