This, to me at least, represents the majority of defining electronica released during the period around 1993-1997 and showcases the extremes of beauty and harshness that very few genres have ever been able to provide IMO. The creation of this mix was rather like some nostalgic journey for me at least as many of the tracks had been left untouched in my record collection for some time.
I would say that none of the tracks showcased here have aged, even though some are around ten years old.
Such is the complexity of electronica.
It remains a completely open genre even today and a genre which i have always dreamed of producing tracks for myself.
IMO It remains the natrual extension of detroit techno, which whilst programmed for the dance floor, was also programmed for the mind and soul.
These two basic hard/soft extremes are still evident today but cause completly different reactions in our minds and bodies.
To my knowledge, Krik Degeorgio aside, I have heard no DJ or programmer really attempt to mix the tracks released during this timespan and as such it was in need of exploitation as many of the artist's musical excursions demand a second showcasing.

I hope that these tracks will stir your senses like they have mine.

Many Thanks to Gique (a frequent poster at this fourm) for the use of track 20 and thanks to ART, Warp and Peacefrog records for consistantly showcasing the best of britsh talent

Enjoy.
AB out.
