what's your feel bad tune
what's your feel bad tune
Okay, so we have a thread for feel good tunes.
But what about the feel bad tunes. What are your tunes for wallowing in self pity, screaming at the unfairness of it all, or just for feeling shit generally.
to clarify, these aren't tunes that MAKE you feel bad, but rather EMPATHISE with you when you are feeling bad.
For me its
Portisehead - Roads
Vince Jones - Drinking again

David Gray - Say hello wave goodbye (Saddest song ever written IMO)
Slipping away - Max Merit and the Meteors
Hide your love away - The Beatles
Wish you were here - Pink Floyd
Mouth full of cavities - Blind Melon (with backing vocs from the chick from the B52's)
I hope I never - Split Enz
Olivers Army - Elvis Costello ("And I would rather be anywhere than here today")
Fade to Black - Metallica
All great songs, but all so god-damned sad.

Some new and original stuff on the cards.
Will keep you posted.
Nice one GM, and I've highlighted my major agreeances.great_magnet wrote:Beck :: Golden Age

Ben Harper - Lonely Day - Almost rivaling David Gray for pure brutal sadness. How could I forget that one.
That song used to make me cry when I was in love with this Canadian girl, and we both used to listen to 'fight for your mind' all the time.

Gotta admit though i once cried in the car when i had Tiestos version puping on the way to work, very sad...mrj wrote:word.T MONEY wrote:Adagio for Strings - Samuel Barber - hella choon
Adagio for Strings is golden - although I prefer just a nice arrangement by some Orchestra or another.

Soooooo sad but so beautiful.
And nice GM re One Day- the Verve. My fave Verve tune ever
also She's Only Happy in the Sun- Ben Harper
Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind - Dr. Seuss
Fuck yeah, moves me to tears.system wrote:Did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?Little Evil wrote:Wish you were here - Pink Floyd
classic.
It's my song with an accross the world 'aquaintence'
'Did you exchange - a walk on part in a war, for a lead roll in a cage"
Lyrical genius unrivaled.
My favourite song on Urban Hyms.elysium wrote:for some reason Lucky Man by Verve gets me wallowing in indulgent self pity if I am already down
One of My fave albums of all time.
The film clip is shot in a house in Stockholm, right near where I used to live, on the baltic sea, overlooking Gamla Stan or 'old Town' in English.
That song means lots to me too.

Pigs On The Wing (Part 1 & 2) from Animals always kill me too:
"If you didn't care what happened to me,
And I didn't care for you,
We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain.
Wondering which of the buggars to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing"

dunno, I like them both. the visual edit that was done to "Head Over Heels" was bad man bizwah too.
On a Tears For Fears tip, the UNKLE rework of DMX "Who We Be" and Tears For Fears "Shout" is amazing. Genius at work.

i got that one at home Mixie. The whole album is all orchestral and then that track is at the end, in like three different versions. Used to put it on repeat, lay in bed and stare at the ceiling. Very relaxing really.....but ummm, sadThe Mixtress wrote:That's the one. Sheesh, it's gorgeous.Lizkins wrote:i love that track. :moving:system wrote: the rework of "Mad World"?
Jesus Christ girl! I'm not strong enough for that. If I didn that I'd probably commit suicide as soon as the third song was finished. It's like Superman drinking a Kryptonite Milkshake.Lizkins wrote:i got that one at home Mixie. The whole album is all orchestral and then that track is at the end, in like three different versions.
