I got my gear in a small-medium sized room with a heigh ceiling. Whats the best (effective/cheap) way to get the room better sounding, atm the high hats sorta echo around a bit a loud volumes, and things get a bit messy.
I was thinking along the lines of putting some foam pads around the room to absorb the sound, would this work?, does anyone know where i should put em?? Or am I on the wrong track??
If you sit your speakers on the floor it'll enhance the bass too
Having carpet / a rug in your room will absorb a lot of the high end too. It's easier and better looking than whacking foam or egg cartons on the wall.
If you have got both these things already then please ignore this post...
I don't know if this is just an excuse for a messy room but I heard that stuff like clothes, beanbags, piles of that kind of stuff absorb the sound and make it better? Like I said, its probably an excuse for a filthy bugger who can't keep his room clean but its an idea (I suppose???)

this is only true if the bass air ports are on the back of the speakers. if they are on the front (as with alesis, event etc) this is not true
