Why?
Why?
All three are just updates or info on releases available to purchase. Why would this one get moved to production thread???
It has clips of the tunes available to buy, but so does the cov ops thread, is it because they're mp3s?

There is no clear-cut rule with regards to this, I've just been moving threads as I see fit.
Having said that I have loosely been following this rule: If the member is not from Melbourne and has a low post count (i.e. they have little to do with Melbourne and they do little to contribute to this forum) then I'll move their threads to the production & technology forum.
I'd rather see threads promoting local music and parties on the front page.
Feel free to make some suggestions on how these should be dealt with though. I'm all ears.

well as i said, one of the tunes for sale is by a melb dude and a forum member with a few posts... spherix... so it clearly fits the rules for the main forum.
plus the cov. ops. thread is the same, ASC only has posts because he is constantly bumping the threads selling his lable, which is cool, but I fail to see any difference with the 2.

Like I just said there are no rules. I've just been trying to give more preference to the local peeps is all. It wasn't immediately obvious to me that one of Josh's tunes was in that thread.quick wrote:so it clearly fits the rules for the main forum.
Again, there's no policy with regards to this, so if you don't like the way it's currently (loosely) being dealt with then let us know how you think it can be done better.

If it promotes the music we love, then why discriminate?
Its not like they're posting new threads all day, one now and again certainly wont hurt at all, so just leave them, unless they constantly spam, or if it has no relevence to the music we love...

I just think that it's an obvious display of 'over-modification'.
There is no harm whatsoever to leave the very few threads(in comparison to all others) like this in the main forum...
But it does hurt the exposure of good music by being moved.
so, to leave it = less effort, no harm
to move it = more effort, can harm the exposure of smaller lables and artist in the scene we care about.
no brainer really...

Well, yeah, I guess I felt like it was potentially harming Melb crews, artist, promoters, etc by taking some of the focus away from their threads.quick wrote:so, to leave it = less effort, no harm

But anyway... we could get caught up in semantics all day. I'm perfectly happy to leave them there. If/when the time comes that people think they are distracting then we can re-address it.
Cool?

So should locals be posting their choons in the main section rather than prod & tech. ???

Actually, he has posted more than promotional items and associated bumps, but I see your point.quick wrote:the cov. ops. thread is the same, ASC only has posts because he is constantly bumping the threads selling his lable, which is cool, but I fail to see any difference with the 2.
Allow me to go off on a small tangent, as I've come in late and the issue seems to have been resolved somewhat. If more people responded to the Covert Operations related threads with queries for ASC, I can guarantee you'll get a response. There's also a high chance of Australian producers getting a release on Covert, so I strongly encourage anyone thinking of doing so to just do it.
I'm looking at Keir, Safire, Spherix0r, Valuetime and others in saying this here.
