this is going to be mad, the middle of a massive weekend that is almost finally nearly here.

Respect to the jungle run effort.

what frustrates me in these old school/new school discussions is that none of the djs or artists recognise new school, ragga styled, drumfunk jungle mashup jungle - mostly coming from USA, Canada, Eastern Europe, but also from UK as well.

in the normal frame of listening its either old school jungle (relegated to the past) or dum and bass.
Jungle run is and old skool themed party. no you'll never be hearing nu skool jungle at these parties, the reason is simple, we dont like nu skool jungle!, its all about the old skool for Jungle run. . , hence the names of our previous gigs, "decades of dubs" , "back to the old skool"
if you wanna talk NU skool beats lets talk Break, Commix, D Bridge, Mav, Martyn etc . . .

Back to the topic, Kenny Ken gonna rinse, check the site over this coming week for some ticket giveaways.

I think youve missed my point. What you seem to be calling nu school jungle (from your artists listed) is not the stuff im talking about, much removed from the vibe im talking about.

im talking 16Armed Jack, Debaser, DJ C, RCola, Soundmurderer...

Are you saying you dont like that sort of thing? Or have you not heard those styles? If you havent then youd be missing my point entirely. Im taking new music in old school style - that the proper jungle sound should not have to be confined to being an "old school thing"

Maybe you do know this sort of thing dont like it? I couldn't see how though

ive heard this yes, and no i dont like this ^^^^

when it comes to nu skool "beats" then break and the others i mentioned are the sounds we're pushing at BBA, i didnt associate any of these artists with "nu skool jungle" far from it.
you want jungle, bring on the AWOL sounds
nu skool jungle is not our thing.

cool. now i know, your point of view on this stuff wasnt clear to me

i still think people miss out though. some people love the mashup, and i dont think it gets a fair enough shot in australia, becuase of a mentality that jungle is in the past and the past only. this is what frustrates me, i think it deserves better exposure as it does in europe and the states.

but thats off topic I guess. enjoy the party 8)

AWOL indeed!

Well, maybe an idea for a future Jungle Run is have old skool in the main room, and in the second smaller room, try new skool jungle with a bit of other newer urban sounds like grime.

No disrespect intended, but i think you guys should both let Dan run his own parties and not tell him what he should be playing.

I love Jungle Run parties and the style of Jungle played at them. The good thing about Melbourne is that there are lots of different parties run with different styles of music to suit all different types of people.

Not happy with the style at the Jungle Run parties, well don't come. Simple!

I for one, and well amped for Christmas night!!

Dust, well said.
I love the variety of people that come to Jungle Run.
Randell was great, to listen to the progression over the times from old to new was fascinating (and everything in between).

Look forward to this one guys-BBA (although struggling to recover from friday night:( )

it was a general comment on the view people have on styles of music, not the way this party was run. I never suggested that he should do his party a certain way (apart from going along with seas suggestion for a laugh) - but commented on the mindset that people have.

I know full well this sort of thing is miles away from the music im talking about, but i still see reason in pointing out that when people talk about new and old school jungle/drum and bass they usually dont ackowlege that there is a contemporary related movement going on, and thats a pity - especially when it does have appeal for many into old school jungle.

and thats one reason diversity in music can be hard to express. try talking about new school ragga jungle and many people assume you mean drum and bass

i think jungle run 2 was the best party of the year
having an oldschool themed night is fine, makes people happy and has a wikkid vibe
as much as i love new school, i agree that it probably wouldn't suit jungle run and will continue to support the party (except of cpourse im in qld and cant go)
big ups to BBA for pushing the jungle sound
big ups for playing mashup not jump up, troopers set at JR2 is one of the highlights if my musical journey

BUT i find it weird that you can not like newschool jungle and have livewire as a member. that's ridiculous.

Nothing wrong with constructive suggestions, Dust. If any idea stagnates I'd lose interest in it, simple. As always I offer a compromise between opinions. Future ideas for anybody perhaps?

Mixtress, wow, public pressure. Have you heard the idea about the Swedish masseuse?

as for this:
The good thing about Melbourne is that there are lots of different parties run with different styles of music to suit all different types of people.
lots of complaints its a splintered, fractured scene though... (dnb wise)

Thats a fair point.

However, with all the "you should be playing this kind of music at your party, you should have this side room " etc. it started to sound like people telling Dan how to run his parties.

My feeling is that people should appreciate the work that Dan puts into his parties and his experience and expertise. Everyone thinks they can do it better and that seems unfair to me. I wasn't trying to single you out Sea, it just got to me a little yesterday.

Mad respect to Dan for sure, I loved the last jungle run and thank god there is an outlet for the old skool. Without it it would be a dark, dark place.

me and erin have been playing jungle together since the mid 90's mate, he has crates of old skool, i booked him for jungle run as an old skool set. he knows better than to play nu skool jungle shit at old skool parties.

i wasn't so much thinking of him playing at this party, but being an integral member of BBA. myself and foundation stepper both also have crates of old school and love it to death. are you saying erin isn't allowed to play ANY of his own dubs even though he is one of the leaders of the new school sound? I'm really also struggling to comprehend what the big problem here is, when most new jungle is like remarc, krome and time or all the suburban base stuff from 94. and again, no disrespect intended. i think you guys run hands down the best parties in melbourne and that you should run them however the fuck you want, i mean this more as an open dialogue
respect, garth

I thought the Randall gig had one of the best vibes and no one I asked could name hardly any of the tunes that were being played. Goes to show theres more to having a good time than being a train spotter.
