Alice Russell creates music that tugs at the emotions and raises hairs on the back of the neck. You really can’t fake what Miss. Russell’s got! Having recently created tracks with the Quantic and Quantic Soul Orchestra projects, live or on record, she always performs with her trademark self assurance and sass. Predominantly bluesy, soul lament but encompassing everything from funk to gospel to jazz and beyond, with influences ranging from Minnie Ripperton, Eva Cassidy, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin as well as Jill Scott. Her solo outing is a live six piece band – ‘Alice Russell Live’ comprising of a prime selection of talented musicians. http://www.myspace.com/alicerusselluk
World famous DJ Babu (Beat Junkies/Dilated Peoples/Likwit Junkies) and wordsmith Rakaa aka Iriscience (Dilated Peoples/Rock Steady Crew/Zulu Nation) combined forces to form Expansion Team Soundsystem out of a true love to move crowds around the world. Inspired by the essence of classic Hip-Hop culture, the duo looks to break away from the rigid boundaries often imposed by the music industry. Combining key elements from party DJing, turntablism, lyricism, club hosting and dancehall spices, they created an awe-inspiring, one-of-a-kind Hip-Hop rocking experience.

I am... I've been waiting for this show for ages...Friday wrote:surprised people on here aren't more pumped for this!
expansion team are going to rock it - really looking forward to checking it out.
Rakaa & Babu didn't quite have it going on last time they were in town IMO, but Alice Russell is the bizness.
Big ups Friday for making this happen, the line up couldn't be more solid for that price.
Big word.

This was an alrite evening, the place was packed.
Alice Russell was interesting but I didn't stick around that room long. We interviewed Babu & Rakaa though it wasn't our best one, and their DJ/MC set was decent, lots of classics, and some messy beat juggling.
The evening was bummy due to Heavyweight Kim having her wallet and phone plucked out of her zipped up bag while walking around.
