June 2007 is a mega month at First Floor as we present the best live Hip Hop and Funk offerings and a DJ legend from the UK!

Dj Peril aka ("king of the beats)& Suburban Intellect will be doing there thang live at First Floor, performing there brand new single "Give you what you want" with a whole new live show,and Richie C on the drum's,along with special guest performance's by Miss Butt & Paris Well's,with Dj's Cargo and Matik in the mix,which ensures you get your soul/funk/hip hop vitimans for the week,come down for a boogie on june 1st at First Floor,Brunswick st Fitzroy,10 till late.

MR THING (Scratch Perverts, UK)
Grindin’s 10th release sees UK Hip Hop DJ Mr Thing mix the first official mix cd off the label. Mr Thing has honed his turntable technique to that of a fine art and now he has done the same with his production. The former Scratch Pervert is THE party DJ, with a residency at London superclub Fabric, Thing knows the tracks that truly rock a crowd. To see the effect this inside knowledge has on his own production you only need to witness what happens when needle hits the groove on one of his own tracks. Besides skills and experience, Thing has dedication like no other when it come to digging for those untouched and unrivalled samples and breaks. Not many people would dare step to him.

In 2006 he teamed up with Yungun to release the critically acclaimed album 'Grown Man Business'. Mr Things soulful backdrops are what provoked Yungun to drop more of his deep, thought provoking lyrics for which he is known for. Now a member of The Extended Players crew alongside DJ's Shortee Blitz, MK, Renegade and Harry Love, Mr Thing continues to represent himself in all musical forms of hip hop music.

COMMON KNOWLEDGE
The members of Common Knowledge have been playing live shows and festivals together for 4 years. Common Knowledge has just experienced the process of reincarnation. Soulful R’n’B is the butterfly that emerged from the Melbourne band’s year-long hiatus, writing fresh grooves and paving a new musical direction. They are returning to First Floor’s stage because you asked for it!!
Doors 10pm – 5am. $5 entry. First Floor

Non-stop groove funktions, drum breaks, iconic pop anthems, dance hall heat and electronic dirtiness is what Booty Tang is all about with Obliveus, Ides and Mr. Lob playing shiny, black, spinning things while The Imaginary Funk Collective has signed on as the residential live concoction of “real life musicians” who play “real life funk music”. To make it even better, Charlie Bucket (Funk Club, Perth) is out to do his thing in the best possible way. So come experience the newest funk hoopla and we’ll give you a plethora of reasons to keep coming back. It all happens at First Floor: 293 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. Friday June 22nd. 10PM-5AM
