Djing at friends Xmas piss up Thurs night!

Post by johnnynostars »

Yay!

My friend wants me to spin at his house tomoz night.

I hope I won't be wearing my "paranoid" cap, thinking that everyone in the place hates dnb and therefore me. Beer is the solution there methinks.

Will be recording this most likely and posting it if all is good.

Wish me luck!

Fuck them haters. If they question what you're playing, just give 'em a look that says "You don't know this shit? Get the fuck out, dumbass, and don't come back till you know the score. You aint even down... BITCH!".

I'm not sure exactly how to give a look that says all that, but I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Insert the following:

Freestylers - Push Up in one CDJ

and

Storm - Time To Burn

then sit on yo ass and drink till you pass out.

Looks like it aint even worth your time if you aint allowed to play DnB.

I believe that expression looks like this

But yeah, I did a party at my cousins 21st...and got kicked off my decks for playing stuff like calibre, GLR, AI, Nu:tone, which is the more mainstream freindly style of dnb. I still got kicked off for a 'fresh hits' compilation  , was not a happy chappy.

This other time I was playin at another 21st with all these psy trance heads, and got em moving which I really didnt expect, so I was a happy chappy...untill some stooge asked me if I had hard NRG, but I just looked at him blankly untill he left

Anyway, good luck..just have fun and if they do kick you off, just be happy that you have a better taste in music and think about what the suckers are missin out on. :)

The best people who have no fucking idea about dj's/dnb are the ones
who come up and shit talk you for about 2 hours saying.
"man put on some proressive trance, the crowd isn't feeling it"

now you can try and reason with these brain dead fools bringing into the mix
the notion that you are in fact the dj and as such he should STFU and
either dance or fuck off, but they wont listen. (scholtzy you know what I'm
talking about  )

The best advice I can give is take a friend along to verbally battle these
people while you take care of buisness. Apart from that just enjoy

Might wear my home-made "Got any Chisel t-shirt?" to take the piss...

Should be alright. My mate has listened to some dnb and knows what I play so I'm sure it won't be that bad.

Thanks for the supports though guys.

Report

The punters were small in number but generally open minded and accepting of the dnb styles. No one had a dance, but I didn't get any weird looks or anything. Had heaps of people talking to me whilst I was trying to mix, so I had a few train wreck-like moments.

Did two 1 hourish sets, with the first being alright and the second quite shite. Gotta listen to the recordings though. After I finished up, someone decided a Gatecrasher CD had to go on.

Cheers dude! Sometimes I get lucky with longish mixes and they seem to really work rather than fall apart terribly.

And BTW, the "Scoopy Jones" alias is a reference to the radio of The Might Boosh. Bob Fossil is a genius of insults!
