Major wars, like World Wars etc, sure.

But I don't think 'Holy Wars' are.

Definately "power" is involved, but I wouldn't classify that as a natural resource along with food, water and oil etc.

Or did you mean power as in oil etc?
I didn't say natural resources, I said resources.

Time is a resource
Popular support is a resource
Geographic advantage is a resource

I agree that it is a broad definitionof the term resource, but I also believe its an accurate one, and the key to understanding all conflict. Be it personal, in the workplace, or geo-political, and yes even religious.

Speaking of religious, I'm wearing my 'playing god' threadless tshirt todays. Yays!

Cool, but you didn't really answer my question.

And yes, it's very broad... following your argument, anything can be a resouce, as long as it exists.

So that just means that wars are fought over anything? True, but it's not much of a point is it?

PS: not meaning to be rude here... just questioning.

Power is a funny thing... I wonder how you measure it...

First you get the money, then you get the....

PPS: check it...

If you're fighting a war to gain power... can you ever win over an adversary with more power than you?

If so, what is the use of that power if it can be defeated by a lesser power?

Or can you only defeat those with less power than yourself? In other words, those who cannot defeat you?

Hmmm.....

it basically means that there is a limited amount of power, so if one country gains power, another will lose it in some form. it's basically a winners and losers game, there's never a draw or two winner/losers. basically. very basically.

(I.R. = international relations) ;)

edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero_sum_game wiki sums it up much better than i do.

hmm indeed.
i see your zero sum game witty, but now i throw in,
i suppose direkt that power is whatever the opposing sides have decided to fight over.
so it could be resources like oil, or it could be a piece of land etc...

Revolution! is where those with less power win over those with more...
the people rise up and take certain powers from the bigger power by revolting...

Depends on how you define powers. Revolution is where those with the power finally realise they can weild it.

The populace will always outnumber the administration. I can't imagine a system where the nubmer of people who govern outnumber the number of those being goverened. Except maybe in large organisations where there always seems to be more middle managers than there are grains of sand lol.

The true power is in numbers. Or global first strike capability I guess.

According to a recent report from eBay, the online auction giant, they sell more than three million vinyl records each year. It is also reported that eBay users buy and sell six vinyl records every minute (or an average of one every ten seconds). .

Yays.

Meeting this pm with beer provided.

huzzah to weekend landing. Dumb cow who calls herself a 'cost engineer' copped a 10 minute pms-style tirade earlier lolz. I was all "You told us you would provide us with 150k and we have yet to receive scope variation, so don't call me asking how many hours I charged to the eco risk assessment cos you haven't agreed to that yet grrrrrr".

Stupid accountant mole bitch. Who calls themselves a 'cost engineer' ffs? It is like calling a person who scrubs toilets a 'systems hygenist' or a hooker a 'discharge management consultant'.

beer beer beer bed bed bed.
