October is National Anxiety and Depression Awareness Month
October is National Anxiety and Depression Awareness Month
Everyone knows someone who suffers- a friend, family member, partner, workmate etc
80% of Australians have been depressed at some time and yet it remains poorly detected and treated, and shrouded by negative social stigma
Beyond Blue is promoting National ADA Month during October. If you aren't familiar with their site it is certainly worth a click: http://www.beyondblue.org.au/index.aspx?
It's an excellent resource which could help you or someone you know
They always have free resources available online but during this month you can order special promo packs to use in your workplace etc. I've just received several and we've bombed this joint with posters and leaflets and have all the staff wearing badges or wristbands
Log on and order a pack. Even if you chuck up a poster in your local cafe
This is serious business and we need to drag it out of the shadows so we can really start making use of the great resources we have and helping the people who need it
Register your workplace here: http://www.beyondblue.org.au/index.aspx ... d=104.1049

nice post gnat.
many of my friends suffer from bouts of both, and talking about it, awareness of it, is one of the best ways to work with it in one's life i think.

large companies should really get behind this, considering a massive percentage of their employees suffer from it

I retract my previous statement.
Email just went out to the whole company for the actual mental health day.
Awesome. And I did that.

but what a soccer teamLil MiSbreaks wrote:Emailed the Rep about this about 6 weeks ago asking if we could be involved. Said I would do the whole thing, put up all the posters in my own time and it would not effect my work or anyone else's (really wanted to make sure it got over the line you know)
Havnt even had a reply to my email. So fucking rude.
Thanks AIG, one would have thought your current situation in the world might encourage you to do something other than support a soccer team. Any other forums I can rag AIG on for maximum effect?
Am going to get them personally and do it anyway.
