You guys get Japan Rail pass while over there? I'm there for 10days was thinking of doing 2 nights in Kyoto and the rest in Tokyo but now thinking maybe should take more in while we are there. Any suggestions of where to go/stay or things to do?

Yep. Book in for a tour of the delta with a stop at cu chi tunnels and cantho (where they have a silver statue of uncle ho, reminiscent of the tin man bwhahahaha).

it's all good! floating markets, red river, take in the "candy factory", rice paper factory, do a bike ride, all fun. you can book in HMC when you arrive.

The Mekong is amazing. Buy a boat cruise and get into the jungle around the old canals. Try and get your gaps around some freshly cooked lobster too! So good.

This is where I stayed for about US$30 p/n (though looks like the prices have climbed considerably since 2004, but like most things in Vietnam, bargain your stay). It's the bloody Hilton in Vietnamese standards. Amazing, but I would urge you to eat locally at any possible point on your trip. Pho till you explode, and bring some home for me. :jealous:

Hey all I am heading to Japan in 2months with my gf for 10days. We are going to be doing quite a lot of travel on trains while there. Just looking at 14 day rail passes and wanted to know from anyone who has done a bit of traveling if it would be worth me getting the Green Japan Rail pass as I am 6'5 and I'm a bit wary the ordinary seating will be to small?

Cheers

It's been on the cards for a long time.
I've promised myself that I need to do the equivelant of the Rum Diaries but in Cuba.
Get boozed and write my book in the sun.
My brother is running a pub in Brixton so I can drink there for nix and then rock home via Asia and keep drinking on the cheap there.
Did I mention booze much?

Menace - I will refer to the Dizzee Rascall song 'Stand Up Tall' as remixed by Melbournes own Nick Thayer as a sucessful bootleg (breaks) a few years back.
Get your backs up, backs up, back off the wall
Sounds of the young star dizzee rascal
Dont give it up half hearted - give it all
Pull your socks up and stand up tall
Bend over against the wall - give it all
