Re: For Walls Gallery.
Hey guys...
Our next show opening is Wednesday night from 6pm-8pm.
Last chance to get drunk with me before I go away, and this artwork is REALLY amazing, textured and colourful!
heres the info...hope to see you for some free drinks!
Francisco Dos Santos - MIND GAP
Francisco Dos Santos’ exhibition Mind Gap is inspired by his interest and vision of prehistoric times, its life forms and harsh environments. These selected pieces of work depict images of the spiritual realms surrounding us as well fossil-like figures. They display a strong emphasis on the possibility of life beyond what we know and an imaginary view of the universal incognita and its mysteries. Dos Santos’ work is strongly influenced by his interest in anthropology and it’s focus on the functions of societies, as well as animal interactions.
Mind Gap calls on the need to look at the early stages of human life form on earth and gives life to the possibility of intelligence in other parts of the universe.
Characterised by its expressionist movement and rhythmic application of paint, Dos Santos’ presents an elegant style and technique of working spontaneously with liquid paint. His work is partly inspired by Jackson Pollock’s works. However, Dos Santos has created his own style, flow and composition. He uses heavy and soft drips of paint on canvas with an originality of his own. He uses a variety of paints and application methods, including: wooden sticks, hard brushes, fingers, plastic fibres, knives and heavy drippings of paint directly from the tin onto the canvas.
Mind Gap aims to challenge the viewer to use their imagination, to find the missing links between the past and present and to contemplate the possibility of other forms of life in the universe. For Walls Gallery inside Miss Libertine.
Opens Wednesday September 1st 6-8pm show runs until Friday October 1st.

Re: For Walls Gallery.
Hey gang,
the show photos above ^^^ is only open til friday night, we have sold quite a few which makes me and the artist HAPPY!
This next one's for anyone into skating, and custom skate decks. My old friend josh runs the skate park down by the Yarra, and this is the afterparty for a huge skate comp and the show then runs for two weeks afterwards.
After the Insomnia Skateboard comp at Rivers on Halloween, this sunday! Come and party at Miss Libertine and check out our new exhibition of custom skate decks! Bands on the night will be "The Happy Lonesome", "The Cheats" and "Team Rad". The upstairs gallery "4 Walls" will host the Insomnia Speed Shop. The new graphics by Melbourne tattooist and gentleman Joel Melrose will be released and a series of 10 limited completes.
The boards will be 80's completes that will be hand shaped by Josh Feggans. Each deck will be limited to 5 being produced. The different shapes have 5.85 (real damn wide) Theeve Tiaxx trucks, Modus bearings and Bones wheels that have been chosen specifically for each shape. The brands have been chosen because they are the best available and we thank them for the support. Free beer and wine from 9pm-11pm or when it runs out! Show is on until Friday November 12th.

Re: For Walls Gallery.
skate show open till friday guys.
now, for those of you here who support good causes and also for those of you looking to buy art for your lives, this next show is a must!!! The works that are turning up are blowing me away and are priced very cheaply! Half or all the money from sold works go to the charity, its up to the artist.
"A3" is a Small Art Show opening at For Walls Gallery on Wednesday November 17th, from 6pm.
Featuring over 50 artists from around Australia and overseas coming together to submit A3 sized work, with a portion of sales going towards the charity, Room to Read. Room to Read partners with local communities throughout the developing world to establish schools, libraries, and other educational infrastructure. We seek to intervene early in the lives of children in the belief that education is a lifelong gift that empowers people to ultimately improve socioeconomic conditions for their families, communities, countries, and future generations. Through the opportunities that only an education can provide, we strive to break the cycle of poverty, one child at a time
http://www.roomtoread.org/australia
So join us for drinks on Wednesday the 17th of November from 6-8pm for the opening of "A3". Show runs until Friday December 10th at For Walls Gallery, inside Miss Libertine, 34 Franklin St, Melbourne.
Dont miss this one MBers, i swear, you'll love it.

Re: For Walls Gallery.
Hey guys...
My last show for 2010 opens on wednesday night from 6-8pm, really strange and bizarro taxidermy creatures...
I just want to thank everyone who has supported the gallery this year, from our opening show in June with over 400 people, to every opening since, it has truly been an amazing and fulfilling project for me and something i wholeheartedly enjoy doing. This was always my idea, the guys at Miss Libertine have let me have the space and run it how I want, which means the lowest hire fees of any gallery space in the CBD, low commissions and truly giving back to the artistic community that surrounds me, its been AWESOME. We now have dealers and people from NGV regularly coming through the openings and this is more important to me than making sales, my baby is growing!
Shows are currently booked till September of 2011, 12 monthly shows next year with some incredible international and local artists, from fine art to street styles to group shows to video installations, including the MB photography show in March which is going to be fantastic, so BIGUPS everyone, please come down and drink the free booze every month as it makes me happy.
Here be Monsters.
Artwork by lidlewing.
‘Here be monsters’ was once written on maps, by cartographers of old, to describe an uncharted and therefore unfathomable area of unknown.
Science and nature and fiction make possible the belief that there are other worlds than these. Hallucination, deep space, the imagination, other places at other times, other reals and possibilities- monsters exist.
Lidlewing, like the psychonaut, is an explorer of sorts, a seeker, a traveller, a collector. The debris of the dead- Bones and skin and hair and fur and teeth are reincarnated, in a brutal taxidermy fashion, as trophy and idol and friend. The sculptures appear as if created by a long abandoned cargo cult pieced awkwardly back together with raw, misguided and irrational attention to detail from broken, chemically altered memories. Monsters are investigated, carefully collected, preserved, and arranged to convert the gallery into a museum of unworldly specimens and exhibits…

Re: For Walls Gallery.
hi guys.
first show for 2011 opens tonight, it has been featured in Trouble Art mag and the Age is coming to write a piece on it too so things at For Walls this year are very exciting.
If anyone here likes pop art, stencils, and MASSIVE canvases, this show is for you. There's a little bit of politics, and lots of sexual.
And the works are ridiculously priced, with free delivery of all huge handmade canvases. Join me for some free booze from 6-8 tonight....
“Politically erect” - Debut Solo Show by Guz
Guz's art spawned from the skateboarding subculture that overtook his world and mesmerized him as a young teenager. Years later, around 2002 this inevitably led him into the welcoming arms of the street art medium . Skateboarders are naturally spatial creatures, always looking at their surroundings with a creative eye. An apparently unlimited canvas and chance to further explore th...is urban landscape became a passion. No skate park was safe. Traveling to Melbourne and eventually moving here in late 2007 furthered his obsession to shock and create subversive landscapes that often people only see as monotonous city walls.
Being a true Aussie at heart the approach to his artwork is usually whimsical , even critical. He often dances along a fine line between vulgarity, pornography and popular culture. His work is heavily influenced by the new age of cyber culture where an agglomeration of images can be poured over in one night long sitting. He chooses a number of mediums but prefer to make his canvases by hand and spend countless blistering hours cutting and spraying. He chops, edits and destroys images. In this show porn stars, politicians and even 1960's movie posters are juxtaposed to create something designed to have you asking yourself questions.
Politically Erect is the first solo show ever by this prolific artist and is on at the For Walls Gallery inside Miss Libertine for all of January. If you like boobs & guns, this show is for you!
Opening night is Wednesday January 5th from 6-8pm and show runs until Friday the 28th of Jan. 12-7pm weekdays or weekends by appointment 34 Franklin St CBD

Re: For Walls Gallery.
Its been a whole year!
For Walls has had over 12 shows in the last year and featured some amazing artworks and installations! It’s our birthday and we have decided that each year we get older, we will have a group show like our opening show to invite our For Walls family to exhibit works form their studios of incredible and varied artworks.
With the likes of
HaHa (infamous street artist)
Pheelix & GUZ (who both did sold out solo shows here recently) Ghetto kitty (For Walls’ curator)
Aubrey Rhodes (blender of icons)
Lidlewing (deconstructed monsters)
Nicole Tattersall (stencil & illustration queen)
Megan Dell (street styles on trees)
Ollie Lucas (pattern recognition maestro)
Ed Bechervaise (EX bunny)
Stephanie May Eather (chaos on paper)
Lani Siow (illustrative watercolours)
Ben Millar (contemporary abstract)
.....this show will have something for everyone.
The ethos at For Walls is to provide a beautiful space for local artists run ethically, catering to a wide range of mediums and styles, and we are incredibly happy with all the shows we have had in the last year, and also, extend a huge thankyou to everyone who has come to quaff wine and check out our exhibitions, there is no gallery without love!
See you at the opening on Wednesday June 1st from 6-8 for more free booze and awesome artwork, as always.
Show runs until Friday July 1st.
