Melbourne Beats, or MB.com, was the baby and brainchild of Melbourne beatsmiths, Lucas Chan and Lynt.
Local broken beat aficionados rejoiced, a community was born, an online hang-out for those with an interest in breaks, drum'n'bass, jungle and all the sub-genres and new genres that followed. Promoters and punters joined en masse in the months and years that followed, culminating with a peak number of simultaneous online members (178) on Tuesday 26th June 2007, at 2.54pm. 178 members online at once... wow!
As of today, Thursday 29th December 2011, MB.com boasts a membership of 4792 members... out of this impressive membership, roughly 2 people still frequent the website.

MB.com was proudly responsible for two high-profile fundraising nights... 2005's Beat Aid (raising an impressive $17k for the Asian Earthquake and Tsunami disaster) and 2007's Fire Aid (raising $9k for the 2006 Victorian Bushfire relief). There was also numerous MB.com BBQ's (north side vs south side) and other social engagements throughout it's lifespan.

Whilst this post is largely tongue-in-cheek... with the increasing amount of tumbleweed blowing throughout the website, particularly this year, I thought I might as well post this half-joking obituary...
Bigups to lucas, lynt, system and all the moderators, members, shit stirrers, promoters and punters that have made this an enjoyably communicative and pro-procrastination tool for the past 7-years or so.
R.I.P. MB.c.
