if you had the choice of a Roland MC-303, MC-505, SP-606 or MC-909, which would you choose and why sivousplait? or can you suggest something of a similar vein that is superior?

I used to love playing on my mates tr808 for the old skool sounds, cow bells etc.
but for me nothing will ever capture the filter and resonance of the tb303, analogue all the way.
never used the mc909, only the mc303 groovebox which is a bit of a joke really.

yeah i got one too, nice to learn on I guess, and easy to use etc, but it is designed as a general machine, obviously the specified ones are going to shit on it. wore the knobs out so quickly! and the cheese factor is fairly high, some nic drum sounds there, 808, 909 etc... just does not even compare to TB.

probably the mc-909 so i didnt have to succumb to using rolands preset synth sounds. cheese
mc303 is drab. the tb303 will always live on. you can constantly hear it being laced thru different styles of music.
personally i'd go for the rare fridge magnet. it will be more useful in the long run.

Groovebox series has always been marketed for complete toys who couldn't deal with audio science....
TB303 is nothing but a piece of plastic turd with a semi-interesting hyjack of minimoog filter.... its only scenesters and morons who pay more than 300 bucks for these.....
TR909 wins hands down.....

same here...
ok maybe the mc909 but only if it was for free.
Sweetcheecks - what exactly do you need? Thats just a list of current and past "roland grooveboxes". If thats what you're after than the mc909 would be the most recent, and probably the best/flexible one out of the roland groovebox stuff...
