Re: Gripe thread
GOTD I bought NIcotinell chewing gum to try instead of the lozenges. Not as effective
Re: Gripe thread
that's probably a good thing... you are going to crave nicotine eventually, gum/lozenges just delaying the inevitible imo

Witty, it smells absolutely feral. And these fuckers carry the bottles around with them everywhere (I was once stuck across from a dude with one on a plane :scarred: )
YI - it's on its way. I have included some beef jerky, chaps and a cowboy hat for good measure.

That's the best news!!!! I had a nightmare the night I read your post... my dog was at the vet and was dying. Was horrible, especially cos this happened several months ago in real life.
I wanted to be a hero. I wanted to be the center of attention. I wanted the glory, I wanted the fame. I wanted the pretty girls to come up and say, "Hi, I see that you're good at Centipede."

someone here just wrote a poem
when you open the mail and it is brown
you have a look and then you frown
Because you realise that someone has sent some poo
And it is generally because they are angry at you!

Re: Gripe thread
some 3d but mostly 2d cards w/alpha spread around with randomization etc. heaps of different species and tens of thousands in a shot.nic wrote:opacity maps or 3d?
way too many for all-3d with the timeframe required. it'd be nice. 12gb of ram and an 8core don't cut it, need a 64gb beast
looking more into Vue for this stuff atm, but you can't use vue with maya lighting only vue lights which is weirddd. can use mentalray tho which is good.... needs moar tinkering time
Re: Gripe thread
lol vue is hell as soon as you try integrating into max or maya.
vray proxy tbh + vray scatter = instant forest
boxx dual xeon octacore w/ 16 gb needed
tinkering time - never enough, i feel teh painorz

yeah ive seen some demos of that looks pretty good for that kinda stuff.nic wrote:lol vue is hell as soon as you try integrating into max or maya.

problem is the accuracy of native species they require with this type of stuff tho - even to create one good accurate model of each tree/plant species needed would take a while. find the damn things, go out photograph leaves, bark, photoshop time, spend hours/days with painteffects or other methods generating and applying them and getting the forms right...
with the time (and money) we get to do renders its just not possible. so many ppl still don't understand how long 3d takes. and still want the quality. i blame shit like avatar lol
use maya and i prefer it, but that is one thing that proxy/scatter would be good in investigate if vue proves too finicky
mmm Boxx
