watch King Kong on the weekend. cried like a baby at the end. so sad. not bad film all in all. made better with Hardy and Lizkins commentary during stupid action scenes though.
"bahahaha he got pwned for sure!"
also saw Match Point. This seemed like a Midsummer Night Murder mystery show with Grade A celebs in it. Didn't think much of it at all really, but still mildly entertaining.
re: Golden Globes. I switched over to it just as Sascha Baron Cowen won his award. If he wasn't so busy telling the same joke over & over he woulda had time to Thank some people.
That guy was amazing. All the fantasy scene's were cool and the effects were brillian, but it didn't have enough of that stuff. Was a great film nonetheless, but i had very high expectations.
i saw babel. pretty bleak, but very well done. i dunno what everyone is complaining about with the japanese girl's story. all the other storylines have pretty unbelievable connections, and her story was easily the best produced part of the film.

i really enjoyed it. we came out though and i heard some dumb bitch in the toilets say to her friend 'remind me not to go to morocco on a tour bus'. i was like um.. is that what you took away from that movie? FFS
also saw the happyness one. it was pretty bleak too. scene where they were sleeping in the train station toilets was very well done and oh so sad. him carrying around that scanner i think lent itself well to the analogy of how he was pushing shit up hill day in, day out
babel 4.5 /5 diplomatic disasters
happyness 3.5/ 5 reasons to be grateful for what you have

OMFG, how freaky was that crazy thing in the picture??
There were some pretty brutal scenes... people stitching their own faces back together... most of the audience was squirming during that bit.
A classic fairytail in a WW II setting. There was the evil step-father, the kind nurse and several pseudo-christian references about blood being spilled. Fascism is the true monster in this film.
Yeah, pretty good.
I wanted to be a hero. I wanted to be the center of attention. I wanted the glory, I wanted the fame. I wanted the pretty girls to come up and say, "Hi, I see that you're good at Centipede."
Scanner Darkly - tried watching this on the weekend but gave up after 1 hr. I just felt no empathy with the characters and the vague plot was annoying. Robert Downey Junior was good in it though.
Just because I rock, doesn't mean I'm made of stone.

Yeah, pretty good.
Blatently the best scene in the film ^^.
Good review though C. I thought it was a great concept for a film, but i thought the violence was just a bit too gratuitous. Some of those things you just didn't need to see to grasp the whole 'real life is too gruesome' concept.
Anyway, i expected it to be the best film i'd ever seen (high hopes indeed!) and it didn't quite make it, but it was really interesting and excellent cinematog.

I agree dust, I really liked the film, but was hoping for much more time to be spent in the fantasy realm than what was. It was a relatively short film, so I think there was plenty of space to further explore "pans labrinyth" a bit more. Maybe make it "pan" out a bit longer :dadineffect:. There was so much that was unexplored about pans world that I had hoped to see.
I thought that whilst the violence was a bit gratuitous it wasn't over done. It wasn't gore, but something probably something approximating reality (I can't be sure, I'm no trauma nurse). I thought the violence was fine, and in fact important to show the horrible reality (I'm guessing).
I'm giving it two fauns.
