just read 'the road' by cormac mccarthy. awesome read. very bleak, but absolutely enthralling. would definitely recommend it.

also 'after dark' by haruki murakami was good. read it in just a few days.

also just read and loved 'born on a blue day' by daniel tammet. he's high-funtioning autistic and also a savant (like rainman) and also an epileptic. genius with words and numbers. can learn a new language in a week, and holds the world record for reciting Pi to 22,500 places from memory  fascinating book.

Hey Lucie

Yeah After Dark was my last book. Ended way too quickly.

I'm currently reading 'Under The Skin' by Michel Faber. It's awesome, but pretty intense.. i'm now too scared to read it before bed time

No I didn't. Bummer. Since reading it I've downloaded the BBC doco that they made about him though. Really interesting. Can burn for you if you want...

best book i've read in ages. for anyone who's ever been in a relationship that's become 'comfortably mundane' and wondered about what life would have been like with someone else

the ultimate story of the grass being greener on the other side

a lesson in life and humility

so well written- highly recommend

O.K. I know it's not a book, but this was one of the most compelling articles I've read in a long time.

It's got many of the elements of a big budget super flick, but you might actually find yourself feeling some emotion for the characters involved.

enjoyed nick hornby's 'long way down'. funny book. also read cormac mccarthy's 'sunset limited'. written as a play script. just two people having a conversation about life - completely enthralling...

so i bought 'the time we have taken' by Stephen Carrol as he won the miles franklin award and
it was about suburban melbourne and i love extraordinary words about ordinary places.

and i usually devour books in the week i buy them but this one has been a LONG slog.

I gave up when one of the characters (called pussy cat so i liked her)
commited suicide and I DID NOT CARE.

meh to this book.
wtf to miles franklin award?

moving on now....and did not even finish.

done alot of reading this month

revisited 2001 by Arthur C. Clarke. Very good read. Did not realise it was released at the same time as the film. Film is alot better with the book as a companion.

Read My Sisters keeper by Jodie Picoult. I liked how she can change up the writing style for each character. Was a bit pissed of for first 3/4 of the book, thought all the characters were self centred twats making things way more difficult than they needed to be, and felt that reflected on the author so was kinda thinking wtf is wrong with this woman, eventually it all spun on it's head though and there was no right or wrong. Bit nasty how she sets up an emotional trap for the reader and fucks them over though lol, albeit kinda clever. Just started her other one '19 minuets' which is a little bit less 'young Mum sitting in starbucks 10 minuets before bookclub' if you know what I mean.

Read to kill a mocking bird since I realised I was the only person the the planet that had not read it. Wasn't bad, would have been more moving at the time of writing, also some of the dialogue with young kids was a bit forced.

The Curious insciedent of the dog in the night time. I bought this by accident it was another book by mistake (still can't find the original book! If anyone knows of a book set in tasmania, loosley centered around a dog that has run away, with a confusing timeline and writing style please let me know!). Anyway it's writen froim the perspective of a young boy with Autism and it's kinda interesting from that point. Would make a good school book instead of the fucking crap they got us to read.

Anyone read the sequels of 2001? recomend them? thinking of buying. Or any other Sci-Fi'sh books that are well and truley out there and head-fucky please recomend to me :)

Tis a good read

he is full on.

Two sides to his life. Family side & Mob side. His family had no idea what he did for a job.

he'd tie people up, leave them in caves, cut them up a bit and then leave them for the rats - still alive mind you.

he filmed it too to see what happened cause it took a few days for the rats to complete the task

The rats ate it all - nothing left, not even any bones.

full on.

Cool. Thanks for the info.

Still waiting to see Shantaram (my fave book ever) made into a movie. The rights were sold a few years back, with Johnny Depp rumoured to be taking the lead - but it's been 'all quite on the Western front' since.

Feigan - sounds an interesting read hombre.
