Babe, I would suggest asking for everyone's email addressed and starting an email loop so we can send info about mounting, submission dates etc etc...

Also the $600 covers the hire of the space but alcohol for opening night is a different story, basically you guys decide how much wine/beer you want, we sell you some at cost price, then we match what you have bought so you get half for free.

We can work that out later tho ;)

don't think i'm in this time around babe. not sure i'll have much money to throw around when i get back, so i'm reluctant to commit now. if i do have some cashish, then i'll save it for a purchase! :D

Hi All,

The lovely Miss Kitty and I went to Classic Colour Copy yesterday to discuss print and mounting options.

We checked out all available options, and the two we liked the best were:

Canvas or Art Mount

We both agreed Art Mount (also known as MDF) was the best. It’s a solid wood piece (but not too heavy), with black edging.
You can have different finishes – Gloss, Matt or Satin.

Pricing:
A3 - $30 which is for printing, mounting and hanging clips
A2 - $85 which is for printing, mounting and hanging clips

However you can have your print in any size, these are just estimates on those sizes. Although A3 is prob about as small as we want to go for the exhibition. Agree GK?

The file needs to be at least 150dpi and can be in jpeg, tif, etc format. They were not too fussed about what format it comes in.

We discussed with CCC that I would arrange to have the prints come through me, so you can all either email me or send your CD of your photos to me and I will organise the printing and mounting. As CCC is not far from Miss Libs we’ll be able to get the photos sent to Miss Libs or I will just drive them over once they are done.

So all you guys need to do is send your photos to me with what you want i.e. size, finish etc and give me da money. Easy! :D

hope that all sounds good to everyone :D

yup, i reckon A3 is smallest really, any smaller and they lose impact and are a bitch to hang tbh.

we think this is the best option, for a semi uniform show which is going to have lots of different content. and its not too expensive either!

can everyone please give Liz an indication of how many prints they might want to exhibit too?

Yup I'm still in...

my email is [email protected]

can't msg on here yet as I haven't been a member long enough!

I'm thinking maybe 2-3 prints.

nic - just need your email

want to finalise numbers involved to sort out the deposit. If you are in, it will be $25 each

Jammess - i haven't included you, but if you decide later down the track to be involved, you will just pay your part of the remaining amount to book the place and depsoit part in one hit. cool?

Just stumbled across this thread. I"m keen as!

Are you going ahead with uniform printing and display? I print, mount and frame my own work. I can also do this for other people at a reasonable cost. I can print up to A3. They are pigment inkjet prints, usually on archival paper or textured fine art paper. Inkjet or die I say!

Theres a few of my images on my Facebook artist page. Theres also some shots of my framed work.
Have a squizz: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pag ... 03?ref=sgm

Ciao

love to have you on board Bassfreak! :D

as per PM, may leave the query re mounting up to GK.

however, it will be a minimum size of A3 i believe.

You can have up to 3 pictures to exhibit. We haven't really sorted out numbers as yet, so you could potentially have more!

I dont mind if the prints are not all presented in the same way, i just want a level of professionalism to all of them. (no foamcore!)

Those printed and framed shots on your Fb page are great bassfreak, im totes happy for people to choose either that format or the mounting liz and i have found, can you maybe work out some pricing for a3/a2 print and frame like yours so people can decide which they prefer?

Cool. I'll put some pricing together for A3 framed prints. Unfortunately I can't frame any bigger than A3 as my mat cutter isn't big enough. I can only print up to A3 also. I can frame an A3 photo with a mount board surround of 10cm each side.

It will definitely cost a lot more than the MDF board printing mentioned before, but your images will look fantastic and will be archivally framed (pigment inkjet prints on archival paper should last over 100 years) which will boost their potential sale price.

If people want to supply their own printed pictures and frames, I can just do the mounting side of things.

yeah no problem, i hear you. Let us know how much for A3 then!

i do not want people supplying their own prints and frames though, that will mean different qualities, finishes and hodge podge in general. ;)

Melbournebeats.com presents Taking in Melbourne and Beyond. Melbournebeats.com is a music based community forum that talks all things beats related. Among the music talent on the board, other talents started to emerge such as design, photography, writing etc. This exhibition is a representation of just some of that talent on the photography front. Taking in Melbourne and Beyond is all things what Melbourne means to the photographer. A glimpse of the city we live in and love and always come home to even after being away. Some of the members have recently travelled or currently live overseas, and wanted to show some of their experiences and impressions of the beyond. This exhibition proves yet again that music brings people together and is such an important aspect of Melbourne and its culture. Music is all, rock on.

The photographers exhibiting are the likes of:

Lynt (Karl Stanton) who has exhibited before in group shows and his own show on his amazing shots of New York, show casing Uptown, Downtown, Coney Island, Empire State, Wall St, Central Park and pavement pounding missions on the block.

Ghetto Kitty (Bo Ghetto) who is the creator of 4Walls Gallery, semi famous for the international bondage baby takeover and other strange art forms, her passion for art knows no bounds. www.ghettokitty.com.au

Lizkins (Elizabeth Lugg) who is generally running the organisation of this show, along with Ghetto Kitty. Liz found a passion for photography a number of years back and has hit the pavement on numerous missions around Melbourne and overseas. She recently was a finalist in a Canon photography competition, and this is her first exhibition.

Other photographers show casing their work are Mecka (Oli Yip); Lucas (Lucas Chan); eN (Dustin Neill); Kaiproject (Caspian Kai); bassfreak (Leith Booker); YI (Alex Virr); Ulyssian (Daniella Meneghetti ); and Elysium (Elly Rich).
