Traktor Controllers
Traktor Controllers
So i just caved and bought a copy of Traktor Pro and must admit its sick and addictive as all get out. Lots of late nights cos I can't get tear myself away.
Of course I very quickly got sick of using my keyboard and want a controller. now. NOAW.
So I know this is landing in Feb NI Kontrol X1

It looks well thought out and very reasonably priced. I was wondering what other people use though and if it's worth waiting for the Kontrol X1 or going some other route.

Re: Traktor Controllers
The Kontrol X1 certainly looks awesome.
I use decks with Traktor and love it.
Personally speaking, Numark make a couple of products you may want to check out:
OmniControl: Controller w/ Interface: http://www.numark.com/omnicontrol
Stealth Control: Controller: http://www.numark.com/omnicontrol
Maybe hit up Store DJ or DMC for pricing...

Re: Traktor Controllers
Vestax VCI-100 is also good, especially with custom mappings.

Re: Traktor Controllers
vci-100 is ok...
i prefer using DVS though... and controllers that assist with this for FX etc = jusy anything with knobs and sliders
i just use korg nanoKontrol, sometimes nanoPad for triggering samples/loops if necessary
and yeah that TRAKTOR KONTROL X1 does look sweet...and cheap!

Re: Traktor Controllers
It's going really well.
The crate scroll and load dials are fantastic, and the loop dials work really well as well.
The hot cue function works well too and depending on how you set up your hot cues I find its perfectly capable of doing stuff that's similar to a sample trigger like a midi controller with pads.
Plus given you have two effects boards of three chainable effects all assignable to 1 channel then really you have easy control of 6 effects to one channel (at most), let's you do some fun stuff that's for sure.
The only drawback is custom mappings. The manual for how to write custom mappings is confusing no end and gives terrible guidance, if you could even call it that. I wanted to write a custom mapping that when you pressed the shift key it switched control from effects to EQ's so that the Kontrol X1 could do all of traktor, but such a mapping template does not exist that I have found and writing one seems impossible. So instead I just bought flippo's old m audio controller for EQ's and sliders which is probably the better option as it allows to control EQ and effects at the same time.
Anyways, heaps of fun to play with. The build quality is excellent, feels really solid and should last for ages I reckon.

Re: Traktor Controllers
yup im using an x1 and loving it.
don't really need custom mappings unless like u say u want to use it with internal mixer.
my korg micro mappings went out the window with this...don't have enough usb ports to use together dammit and the x1 wont work thru a hub, at least not mine
