Ok what's thoughts. Who is getting one?
I actually didn't consider it until I started thinking about the applications for work. Using a note writing pad like
noted

combined with a stylus like the the pogo sketch

and you have a complete replacement for the old pen and paper. take notes during a meeting, at the end of the meeting just email them to yourself, and then save them in the folder that the notes relate to. To be honest that would have a big impact on how I work.
Also being able to review documents on the tram, or call up pdf's during meetings. would totally reduce the amount of filing, printing, etc that I have to do.
I can't get as excited about it for recreation though. I have my lappy and my phone, and these already do all the things that I want.

lazy gui design imo....
same as iphone.... wtf? same amount of icons per screen, same operation, waste....
yawn... more ipad specific audio apps would be cool though, like soft synths and multitouch effects stuff... no usb is FAIL, ipad specific photoshop-style apps would be mad too (if you could get the fucken photos on to the thing without a computer
(no usb))........

agree that there is major flaws, no usb makes it pretty hard to work from in my mind!
as with all apple products, I'd never buy the first run/edition.
but tbh, if they fix some shit and it comes down in price I could be tempted to get one for portability and snazzyness really.
but I am a mac fan.

but really at the moment I have to cart paper copies of stuff I'm reviewing on the tram, and its a pain in the arse, and often i find I've bought the wrong thing with me etc. i'd be happy to look liek a dick if i't meant that I can do more work on the tram. that's 40 min's earlier i can leave from work.

the hardware is good, but ffs sort out some kind of data serialisation/multitasking. would be ridiculously annoying to use otherwise.

If I was to go for a "not quite a phone, not quite a computer" device like this, I'd go for a netbook instead. At least you're working with an open platform then and aren't locked into Apple's software/products. I can handle it (barely) with my iPhone and iPod, but there's no way I'd let them do it to an entire computer of mine.

That looks a wicked concept. I don't know about the wireless aspect tho, won't that just result in massive latency?

iAds? Did no-one point out that the brain reorganises letters and the capital 'A' makes that read as Aids? Having a gaunt, cancer-ridden Steve Jobs pointing at me with the headlines 'Get Ready For iAds' made me want to go bathe in bleach.
Until they bring out the iHoverboard I will remain unimpressed.

had a play with an ipad on friday. it's pretty cool tbh. interface is rad.
