RASH : aerosol art film. tomoz night yo
RASH is a contemporary story of Melbourne and the artists who make it a living host for illegal artwork called ‘street art’.
This film explores the cultural value of unsanctioned public art and the ways that graffiti art contributes to a very public dialogue.

Anyone interested in checking out whats been going in on the walls and
laneways of melbournes aerosol community for the past few years would do well to check out this film.
The first feature documentary from Nicholas Hansen and Mutiny Media
'RASH' has been invited to screen in the Australian Showcase Section at the 2005 Melbourne International Film Festival. (MIFF)
RASH MIFF Screenings:

I know, made my blood boil. There was all sorts of comments on the news saying it had no artistic merit blah blah. Just made me want to scream.Rob M wrote:did anyone hear Robert Doyle's comments about graffiti the other day?
paraphrasing a little here...
"anyone actively doing graffiti that is 18/19 years or older needs to grow up and get a life..."

I almost threw the remote at the TV! I've never liked Rob Doyle anyway. learn about life before commenting i say. just another knob point to his dickometer.mrj wrote:I know, made my blood boil. It was alright, not really into stencils and all that arty farty stuff.
Reka, sync, psalm were good same with the kab and kano such insane original styles there. Other than that, just not my thing at all. I just dont really respect that kind of art.
This is what its all about
And Kammo heres a link to that jisoe doco i was talking about

why is that? you just don't like it? or do you just think it's for poofters.Focus wrote:I just dont really respect that kind of art.
i thought it was quite a good docco. didn't really portray some of the artists
as the smartest people in the world tho.
I've always loved psalm's work. some of his newer characters are rad.
reka and the other sticker/poster dudes are off the hook.
I dont really like it, sure some of it is good but generally the whole stencil/sticker movement is a bit meh for me and if i walk down the street i dont even take notice of it.
I'm not into the whole "this represents our society" shit, it just aint my thing. I like art, but when it comes to street art,
its all about letterform peices, tags etc for me and even some of the more arty style peices as i have posted. Its about what looks "dope" not what it represents as i dont think on that level.
Does that make me ignorant AO?
Each to their own i spose.
And just because i dont respect it, doesn't mean i disrespect it.
