Conceived by D&B visionary Kasra back in 2002, in a front room in north London, the Critical Music name has since blossomed into one of the most successful independent record labels in the UK today.

Grown from a simple idea driven by a commitment to putting out the best music the scene has to offer, it has now become one of the most well respected electronic dance music labels in the UK. Nurturing new talent and releasing some of the freshest breaks and beats from the likes of Enei, Foreign Concept, Break, Rockwell, Sabre, Stray, Cyantific, Marcus Intalex, S.P.Y, Calibre, Total Science and many more, it has gone on to build a loyal following around the world driven on by Kasra’s never ending quest to release quality underground bass music.

KASRA

Since his first forays into drum & bass
as a burgeoning young DJ, there’s no doubt in 2011 that Kasra has made an indelible mark on the scene, a mark that continues to grow ever-stronger as his Critical Music empire prospers.

Conceived back in 2002 in a front room in north London, the label has grown from a simple idea driven by a commitment to putting out the best music the scene has to offer; it has now become one of the most well respected underground dance music labels in the UK. Nurturing new talent and releasing some of the freshest breaks and beats from the likes of Break, Rockwell, Breakage, Cyantific, Marcus Intalex, S.P.Y, Calibre, Total Science and many more, it has gone on to build a loyal following around the world driven on by Kasra’s never ending quest to release quality underground bass music.

As Critical’s figurehead the demand for Kasra’s DJ’ing skills has escalated to the point of a schedule that sees him playing regularly every weekend throughout the UK and rest of the world. Vienna, Budapest, Shanghai, Beijing, Miami, Berlin and of course his beloved London are just a few of the places that have beared witness to the Critical sound and the list just keeps getting longer. Quite a feat these days for someone who’s not yet really taken the production bull by the horns.

Though this could be about to change as Kasra’s back in the studio readying his own takes on the Critical sound; a collaboration with S.P.Y. is already complete and due for a May 2011 release date as well as solo productions gradually working their way into the sets of the great and the good of the dnb community.

Not content with a release schedule bursting with future classics and his own rigorous DJ’ing schedule continually on the up, the label even now boasts its own residency at one of the worlds best electronic music venues , Fabric, where it can regularly be seen smashing up the place with an always superstar cast of DJing elite from D&B and beyond. So now as heads turn and eyes look forward to the rest of 2011 it seems this could be the tipping point for Kasra both as a DJ and a label head of one of the most inspiring imprints in dance music today. The Critical age is only just beginning.

ENEI

Hailing from St. Petersburg in Russia it was way back in 2003 that a young Alexey Egorchenkov first got the taste for the musical drug Drum & Bass. Like many others before him he became hooked, dabbling with his own production and DJing soon after. Taking the artist name Enei his career began to blossom giving him star status in his beloved Russia and far but it wasn’t until 2007 that things really began to escalate.

During this year Enei earned his first official release on the Dutch label Fokuz but it was the first of many as others began to drop on other imprints such as Blu Saphir, Cyanide and Citrus throughout 2008 and 2009. Whilst his productions and profile began to take shape a certain eagle-eyed label boss, renowned for his supreme A&R’ing, was keeping close tabs on him; it wasn’t long before the phone call was made and Kasra secured the first Enei release for Critical Music at the end of 2010. The rest as they say, is history.

Releasing the Andy C favourite ‘Cracker’, ‘One Chance’ and the much lauded ‘Stone Head EP’, Enei’s Critical discography is relatively short but seeing the sheer talent within Kasra signed him exclusively for the label in 2011. It was Enei’s biggest year and to top it off he came away the ‘Best Newcomer Producer’ accolade at the end of year Drum & Bass Arena Awards.

As we enter 2012 things are only getting better for Russia’s number 1 producer/DJ; his debut album is complete and scheduled for early summer whilst a slew of remix work continues to pour in. With his music supported by Goldie, London Elektricity, Bailey, DJ Hype, Andy C, Kasra and many more, and an ever increasing DJ’ing schedule, you can guarantee this is merely the start of it as one of the most exciting of the new producers generation in electronic music today continues to make his way.

MEFJUS

Mefjus is a new producer hailing from Austria who’s name has been amassing quite a following amongst the drum & bass hierarchy of late. Amongst a plethora of other young Austrian artists, Mefjus is the one that stands out and for good reason; his brand of jaw-dropping, proper tech-infused beats and bass is like no other and now as he teams up with Critical he looks set to hit the worldwide stage.

In the studio Mefjus combines a deft touch with astute technical skills, creating the kind of hard hitting tracks that have made it into the sets of the great and the good of drum and bass including, Andy C, Friction, Phace , Rockwell and more.

Having signed tracks to labels such as Neosignal and more it was the ears of renowned Critical label boss Kasra that cottoned on early to secure Mefjus as a fully fledged member of the Critical Music squad.
