He's gonna make you feel, the way you wanna feel. When he starts to lie, when he makes you cry, you know I'll be there, my day will come. I know someday, I'll be the only one.

Yeah man, I fell in love with them when I heard 40z to Freedom on an old inline skate film called "Anarchy Across America 2" with Arlo Eisenberg runnin tings. I would have been about 14 or so I think...

My bro is a big fan, has everything. I used to sneak his 40z to Freedom CD outta his CD player when I got sick of listening to 311 ;)

Ahhh, 311, too. There was a 2 year period where I must've saw Sublime about 12 times and 311 about 10. My 2 favorite bands fer sure, though 311 has fallen off my list as of late. Funny you mentioned them, cuz I was just playing my 12" of 8:16am only 20 minutes ago, wondering if Dboy would like it on his mix or not.

OK, Top 5 favorite bands/artists of all time (for me)...

1. Sublime
2. G Love & Special Sauce
3. Bob Marley
4. Beatles
5. Hepcat

This is fun...for me!

It's 8:16 A.M. will you wake up to me, the first thing that you see my eyes open I'm just hopin' you feel the same as me, the day starts carefully on the sidewalk with the dog you're right last night I was a hog, come on I'm sorry, it's 73 degrees, January easily glides oh, easily glides

I own it on 7". "Patience" on the B Side. Nice!!!

Top 5 reasons to love GNR...

1. You'll always find someone at a party who owns their entire catalogue...always. Leads to great friendships.
2. W. Axl Rose! Nuff said. Fat, out of touch with reality nowadays, but was THE MAN for a good 10 years. Great vocals when he was on top.
3. First band to come out of the cock rock era that actually walked it like they talked it. Always felt like they'd kick yer ass.
4. Paradise City, Welcome To The Jungle, Rocket Queen, Sweet Child of Mine, Mr. Brownstone, damn, the entire first album. So many tunes on Appetite that are still classics...going on 20 years later.
5. Izzy Stradlin was THE definition of cool and his rep will never be tarnished by all the bullshit Axl's pulled in later years.

just adding what I think is missing to other peoples' lists, because it's clearly not a difference of opinion, it's just that they forgot my favourite tune. clearly.

top five ska tunes: kid koala - skanky panky
top five album openers: tzu - who?

and my own list:
top five track 2s:
1. dj shadow - building steam with a grain of salt (endtroducing....)
2. radiohead - paranoid android (ok computer)
3. boards of canada - oirectine (twoism)
4. mr oizo - monophonic shit (analogue wormz attack)
5. squarepusher - a journey to reedham (7am mix) (big loada)
honourable mentions: deltron 3030 - 3030 (s/t), music vs physics - companyman (northside perspective), downsyde - lesfortunate (when the dust settles), suv - yo soy (desert rose), portishead - all mine (portishead)

i think the second track is like #3 in the batting order. it's not the immediately obvious opener or outro that everyone talks about, it's not the flashy tracks in the middle, but it's david frigging boon. i mean, come on, you can't argue with boony and/or his moustache.

and a bonus christmas list:
top five albums I bought while I was in year 7:
1. propellerheads - decksandrumsandrockandroll
2. portishead - portishead
3. radiohead - ok computer
4. smash hits '96 (robert miles - children, peter andre - mysterious girl, triple x - x files tekkers version, coolio - 1,2,3,4, et al)
5. godzilla soundtrack

In 1 post, you've made me feel old and respectful for such good taste that you had in Year 7. Hell, I was into Y&T, ACDC and Metallica in Year 7. You must've been running the parties at school.
:D

Adding to your Top 5 Track 2's:

1. Gomez - Revolutionary Kind (Liquid Skin)
2. Grateful Dead - Truckin (Skeletons In The Closet)
3. Lenny Kravitz - Always On The Run (Mama Said)
4. Sublime - What I Got (Sublime)
5. Morcheeba - Shoulder Holster (Big Calm)

Sorry, but I had to add another Track 2:

Ben Harper - Burn One Down (Fight For Your Mind)

That song, in particular, blew my mind the first time I heard it. Still gives me goose bumps.

8)
Word.
Steven addler had that simple style - with the cowbells and shit - that Matt Sorum could never quite replicate.
It's a shame the band sacked Steve because of his smack habit.

Izzy - A modern day keith Richards. One of my fave rhythm guitarists of all time.
Have his solo album with his band 'the Ju Ju hounds' which aint bad.

Duff - the man is just not given enough credit as a bass guitarist. He's a genius.

Axl - quite possibly one of the most unique and talented people to ever utter a note.
The whole 'wowowowow' thing went to his head. Way too overdone on later ventures.
I loved it when he just sang normaly.
It was a shame he was such a self-righteous cockhead.
Man he could write some songs though, and man could he sing when he wanted to.

Slash - one of the most incredible blues guitarists the world has ever seen.
Anyone just has to listen to the incredible full length solo on 'Sweet child o mine' to see this.
Truly innovative stuff, and he had the 'feel', and still does.
Lots of guitarist can play well, but don't have the 'feel' - do you know what I mean?
Slash was my idol for a good 5 year period. :D

They lost me on the whole 'use your illusion 1&2' thing.
Axel got way to big for his 'axl converse' and they died a horrible death.
Some good songs on it, like 'Don't cry' and 'Double talkin jive'
But that whole 'get in the ring thing' was a fuckin joke.

I'd get in the ring with Axl.

He recently reformed them though - him being the only remaining original member. (about three years ago)
Because he sacked the whole band.
hehe.
They were tourring Europe last time I was there, and even released an album.
Anyone hear it?

Now Slash plays with Lenny Kravitz and Velvet Revolver full time, and Duff is on with VR too. Nice
Good album.
But could have been heaps better IMO.

In regards to fooishbar...

Top 5 reasons that "crap, small private schools" in the country aren't a great place to send your kids to...

1. The amount of good music they'll have access to is quite small.
2. They'll be surrounded by bogans.
3. Their ability to procreate with someone who isn't inbred will be hampered.
4. They might just grow up to like farming.
5. You might have to move out there, too.

Then again...

Top 5 reasons that "crap, small private schools" in the country are a great place to send your kids to...

1. Country & Western music might be their cup of tea, but they dont know it yet.
2. Your kids will have the street smarts that only comes with growing up in the city, so one day bogans could form the ranks of their own private army...think BIG!
3. If you want grandkids, procreation seems to happen much more rapidly in the small towns. You could be a nana by 30, who knows?
4. Having a farmer in the family, means cheaper veggies and fruit on your table. Unless they raise livestock, which means plenty of meat and milk products.
5. It's cheaper to live out there than it is here in civilization.

Top 5 reasons to be a vegetarian:

1: The killing of animals is a deplorable and disgusting thing and all of those poor things deserve to live as much as you or me.

2:Vegetables are proven to provide as many if not more nutrients than animal products.

3. The farming of animals destroys the land that, quite frankly we as living creatures need.

4. The current measures deployed to farm animals are unjust and inhumane. Have you seen the way battery chicken are raised?

5. In recent times western perception of what a useful part of an animal has decreased. We tend to waste 60 percent of the animal being killed. And waste of anything is terrible.

Top 5 ways to get someones attention:
1. Light their hair on fire
2. Swing in through the window on a rope like a SWAT team member
3. Corner them in an elevator and insist they call you "Admiral"
4. Fall to you knees at their feet, stoke their leg and say "my precious"
5. kill them
He's climbing in your windows, he's snatching your people up.

Yes, and animals are free to kill and eat me as well.

Top five reasons why hayfever sucks:

1. Your nose gets runny
2. Your eyes get puffy
3. Your throat feels scratchy
4. Your sneezing all the time
5. You really just want to kill every single pollen-emitting lifeform on the planet, and by association, most insects, which is an added bonus.

Am I extremely fortunate to have never heard any of those songs or what? I love my pre-sets. Saw the cover for the Pussycat Dolls at Sanity, look like the Spice Girls to me. Blah!!!

Top 5 reasons I love breaks so much...

1. In my loose definition of the term, it covers breakbeat, hip hop, d'n'b and just about anything under the sun...so there's a little something for everyone.
2. Seems that it's easy for people to dance to it.
3. It brings together people with open minds to music because it encompasses so many different styles.
4. I read in an interview almost 6 years ago that the Freestylers enjoyed the genre, so that was, and still is, good enough for me.
5. Funky bass lines and phat beats...does there need to be anything else?
