Just saw the Banksy film, Exit through the gift shop. Was really good, with quite a twist at the end...

I don't want to give anything away, but I have read (on the interweb), that some people suspect the Banksy film to be a monumental art prank!

If it is, it's genius.

recent fillums:
  • "exit through the gift shop" - very well done and a great twist as previously mentioned. 8.5 bags of wool over 10 eyes.
  • "44 inch chest" - ray winstone, ian mcshane, john hurt etc doing the aged full wide boy; think glengarrie glen ross set in croydon (london). bit hit and miss, but worth it for mcshane and steven berkoff's cameo as well as winstone's marathon running. 2 c*nts out of a possible 10 bleeding f*ckers.
  • "animal kingdom" - the entire cast give superb performances. must see, especially for the beast who appears on guy pearce's lip. 9 flaming galahs.

Watched Cop Out this afternoon. I don't think I've been so disappointed by a movie ... ever. Shit dynamic between Tracy Morgan and Brucey, poorly delivered dialogue, the most godawful score ever written, near to zero plot and basically really unfunny. I'm seriously thinking that Tracey Morgan is useless beyond sketch comedy and 30 Rock.

I watched this yesterday and hugely enjoyed. The animation is just wow!

Image

IMDB says 7/10

Summary

When 9 first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world where all humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they'll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.

Yeah the animation is pretty good but I was disappointed that it wasn't longer. 70 minutes for epic tale/character development...?

So Hugo Weaving has been signed to play a villain in the Captain America movie. Dope.

Watched The Losers yesterday. Had not been expecting much given that the trailers look fucking awful but it was a perfectly serviceable, brainless action film. Lots of style though which was nice. A few lols even.

Also mondo excited for this:

Watch the posted video on YouTube.

Loved that film. The book is one of my all-time favorites too. Dark, depressing and a slap in the face... The author of the story wanted to show how much we take our natural resources for granted, and was inspired by the love he felt for his son and his fear for future generations.

Not the happiest film tho
Had read the book a few months back, checked the film on Sunday.

I agree, not the happiest of films (or book) - but a good film nonetheless, and a warning for possible times to come.

Predictable story, average battles, boring characters.

Now I don't know who Lindy West is but she has written the most savage and funniest film review (of Sex and the City 2) I have ever read.

Here's a sample: "SATC2 takes everything that I hold dear as a woman and as a human—working hard, contributing to society, not being an entitled cunt like it's my job—and rapes it to death with a stiletto that costs more than my car. It is 146 minutes long, which means that I entered the theater in the bloom of youth and emerged with a family of field mice living in my long, white mustache. This is an entirely inappropriate length for what is essentially a home video of gay men playing with giant Barbie dolls."
