obliveus wrote:A copy of my students first Assessment Task for Year 11 Geography:

Spatial Association, Interaction and Change Over Time: A comparison between 3 areas in and around Box Hill High.

So far you have conducted 3 fieldwork assignments:

Assignment 1: Evidence of Spatial Change Over Time around the Box Hill High campus.
Assignment 2: Evidence of Spatial Association and Spatial Interaction inside Box Hill High.
Assignment 3: Evidence of Spatial Association, Interaction and Change Over Time at the park.

The fieldwork assessment task will consist of 3 parts:

A. Field Report (50 points) The first part will be a report that answers the questions below. Each question will be worth 5 points:

1. What evidence is there of Spatial Association at Box Hill High and the park?
2. What evidence is there of Spatial Interaction at Box Hill High and the park?
3. What evidence is there of Spatial Change Over Time at Box Hill High and the park?
4. Is the level of Spatial Association at Box Hill High greater or lower than that at the park? Explain your answer.
5. Would the level of Spatial Interaction at the park be different if you were to make observations on a weekend? Why or why not?
6. Can you find any evidence of Spatial Association between Box Hill High and the park? Could this answer vary if observations are made at different times of the day? Why or why not?
7. Are there any physical factors that contribute to the Spatial Association, Interaction and/or Change Over Time at the school and park? Explain your answer.
8. What human activities have an impact on the areas you conducted your fieldwork? List the activities and specify the area that the activities take place on your map.
9. Are there any recommendations you would make to planners if it were announced that Box Hill High and/or the park were due for renovations? Explain the reasons for your recommendations.
10. Is there anything different you would do next time for this assignment?

B. Maps (30 points): The second part of the assessment task is for you to include detailed maps of the areas we conducted fieldwork. The field report must use these maps to show the location of evidence of Spatial Association, Interaction and Change Over Time. Include a Figure number with the title of each map (For instance: Fig. 1: Map of the Spatial Change Over Time around the campus of Box Hill High). You must include:

1. Map of area around school, could include: quadrangle, school buildings, oval, portables, streets, rubbish bins, parking lots, soccer field, garden, etc. Map must include a key, compass, title, scale, names of significant features and structures and color-coded evidence of the Spatial Change Over Time.
2. Map of area inside of school, could include: school buildings and associated areas, i.e. locker bays, classrooms, offices, toilets, stairs, gym(s), canteen, portables, library, etc. Map must include a key, compass, title, scale, names of significant features and structures and color-coded evidence of Spatial Association and Interaction.
3. Map of park, could include: footpaths, water features, vegetation, playgrounds, parking lot, signs, rubbish bins, streets, toilets, tables, chairs, BBQ’s, fields, trees, etc. Map must include a key, compass, title, scale, names of significant features and structures and color-coded evidence of Spatial Association, Spatial Interaction and Spatial Change Over Time.

C. Presentation (20 points): The third part of the assessment task is an oral presentation of your findings. This oral presentation must include a description of your findings (use the questions for the report to organize your presentation), evidence that you must link to the visual map(s) of all 3 areas of fieldwork, personal opinions based on your findings that deal with the causes of change and interaction you observed and any pictures that you may have taken or other visual aids. Presentation must be 5-7 minutes, with extra time for questions.

After your presentation, include this handout with your report and maps.

Not bloody likely!! Just show them some pictures like this. We use satelite remote sensing for change detection....really good for environmental managment data. Overlay some land use, vegetation maps, topographic maps over the top and find as much spatial association between attributes as you like....

Haha I was thinking about that the other day... how we used to hide our socks when we saw him coming. By the time I left he had an electronic diary thing so he could keep tabs. I heard he eased up after his wife had a kid tho :smt102

I didn't do vce geography because of him.

Sounds super. Nice to see some teachers actually enjoy their job.
I worked in a high school for a while (helping out some of the kiddies with learning probs). Everyone asks me if I would ever teach, and I say no because the teachers I worked with seemed really miserable. It's heartening to see that you aren't the same :D

haha at Pittman...the geography teacher who got us lost wandering around the base of Mt Cook in NZ! (he was just one of those real tight arse control freak teachers, you all know the type, and yes Ani_,trailer_trash & I all attended the same school)

I work for Big Brother...actually its the HIC face to face with the general public all day, everyday....the best thing about the job is also the worst; the people. I'm sure everyone who has worked in a customer service type role can relate to horror customer stories as well as the more positive interactions!

I've worked with some shocking people in the past. In light of my current situation and the fact that I'm not permanent yet, let's just say that everyone I work with now is TOPS!

It amazes me when I see disgruntled teachers. Most of the time it's related to the fact that they're not making the money they thought they would in life. But if anyone was "smart" enough to get into teaching because of the money, then they shouldn't be doing it.

I love being a teacher. It lets me geek out on a regular basis. Plus, how many other jobs give you 3 months paid vacation a year? And it never conflicts with my other passion, dj'ing.

It's all Chinese to me. My wife's the one with the doctorate from Palmer. I'm the lowly paid teacher.

I do find it funny though how all the different approaches to health care get bent out of shape so easily when ignorant people like myself mix up their profession. I think my wife has an osteopath renting out a room at her practice. Might be a naturopath though; I cant remember. But it is one of the "paths".

What do you guys do again? Seriously.

osteopathy is based aorund the premise that the bosy is a functional uni, and structure and function are inter-related. meaning if the body is in structural harmony, it will function properly, and be capable of self repair.
so we work with musculoskeletal strain patterns, to maximise fluid dynamics in the body, and restore normal function of lal joints, ligaments, fascias, soft tissues, even organs etc (do a fair bit for period pain, reflux, liver trouble etc

i cannot generalise about all chirppractors, as some work similarly to us and are open minded, however around where i work i get many patients from chiros here, all with bad stories, who have been going to them for years with no improvemnet, and maximum expenditure, then i seem to get them right in one or two treatments

but yeah like i said, cant and shouldnt generalise, im only speaking locally here

Myself and my wife are down for any approach that doesn't require large quantities of drugs and/or medications to "fix" the problem. Good on you if you're helping people, that's the important thing. I told her about this thread and she informed me that she's referred a few patients in the past to an osteopath. I cant speak for all Chiros, but I can say that my wife is very "open minded" and will always use anyone who she feels can help the patient.

Please find attatched Jonathan's Hunter data in case you wanted to add it to the report.
I will await feedback from all the other states before collating the info for the final board report.

I feel that Campaign 2 will certainly help to promote proactivity and create awareness of the 360 degree client service focus.

On another note, George has asked me to go to NSW and spend some time with him and the new manager of the NSSC in a consultancy capacity.
I could work this around the CRMS training, is this going to be held at Kent St?
Do you have any info on date's as yet?

I had a guy called Dr A Choo and another guy who's first name is Dragan.... I've got hundreds more funny names but they're the pick of the bunch.....

fucken beurocratic managment types make me laugh. Today one sent out an email about a coule of food items in the fridge that needed to be cleaned out, and that if "staff members do not adhear to the aforementioned and required refrigerated food and/or beverage storage practices, managment will be forced to implement action and...." wait for it, this is the gold bit.... "apon the end of the working week all consumables shall be consinged to landfill" bahahaha, in non-fuckhead speak that means

"Could everyone please make sure they don't leave food in the staff fridge to go off? otherweise on friday we are going to chuck everything in the bin"

hahaha... fucken idiots that use ridiculous language to try and belittle people and feel inportant. fark, consigned to landfill!!! hahaha.

I went to a workshop last year run by a senior journal editor. She had all these examples of dickheads writing and useing the most awkward and intimidating language they could to create a sense of false intelegence. Fuck it was funny.
