POKER
POKER
so i love playing poker, bout a year ago i bought myself a 500 piece 11.5 gram ceramic composite chip set, a folding felt table complete with drink and chip holders, hell ive even got a card shuffler. Now the problem i have is i don't get to play it as much as id like to as almost every time i try and organise a game shit goes wrong and the excuses come out.
Ive played at the casino before and at the local pub but it much more fun when you can sit around with like minded people and talk shit and listen to good music both the casino and pub lack in these features.
So i ask you melbourne beats...who wants to play poker? who finds themselves in a similar situation? im not talking bout gambling big bucks, tournament style poker where $10-$20 per game, winner takes all, second gets his/her money back.

im playing for real money too. Put $50 in, so far im up to $70

sweet, we could all put in $10 entry fee, then the top three take home the booty split in cascading order of course, depends on how many people we get interested as to where we could hold it (or hold 'em ) but think having turntables there and a BBQ would be a good idea for those that drop out. we could even perhaps hire a dealer.
sounds like a plan.almax wrote:sweet, we could all put in $10 entry fee, then the top three take home the booty split in cascading order of course, depends on how many people we get interested as to where we could hold it (or hold 'em ) but think having turntables there and a BBQ would be a good idea for those that drop out. we could even perhaps hire a dealer.

of course it would be Hold 'em too but yeah getting people in the same place at the same time is hard, maybe we could do one table one night, then another the next day untill it whittles down to the final table which could be even the next week. Perhaps early in the week would be most suitable like say a tuesday or wednesday night? ill set up a poll

i wanna have a game that follows the 'high stakes poker' format. (if you haven't seen this, find a torrent; it's the best televised poker i've seen.)
have a minimum buy-in and allow rebuys, with small, fixed antes and blinds. it means that pots frequently get raised pre-flop, rather than tournament hands where people just limp in with trash. there's more chances to bluff when there's only two or three people left in the hand afterwards.
thayer knows what i'm talking about...

Don't worry Dan, it's bullshit.
So it's a PDF which has some tips on analysing player behavior in order to put opponents on a range of pocket cards. Lots of free essays and information about that already on the web, just have to google for it.The screen on the right illustrates what it feels like to play using this system. Notice that cards are visible. That is the experience of playing poker with this cheating system!

speaking of online poker, anyone managed to find a decent flash game?see i cant download anything onto the work computer so replaypoker.com is no good. Best I can find is this but its totally flawed and if you keep raising it folds

I think PartyPoker has an in-browser java client you can use, it seems to crash on my mac though.
You might also try: http://www.gpokr.com/
I haven't played there for a few months, but it was free and didn't actually require flash (just used javascript).
