Fractured Friday 16th featuring Ruffneck Souljahs (NZ)

Post by Lil MiSbreaks »

Ruffneck Souljah Recordings represents straight up Live New Zealand Hip-Hop, Ragga and Drum'N'Bass.

Imagine a cross between Congo Natty and NWA, with a dash of Lauren Hill, that’s the sound, that’s the vibe…

Offically formed in 2002 the crew has since then released four CD’s and had several original productions signed to American and Canadian Jungle Record Labels Hotwax, BlacklistNYC and JungleXpeditions.

In that time they have performed extensively in New Zealand and toured Canada, America and Australia, performing and collaborating with artists such as High Contrast, The Feelstyle, MC Mana and Antsman (Rhombus), Rcola (JungleX), JPS (TheOperatives), Demolition Man, Million Dan, Jamalski, K-O, Rollers Music, Murda1, Foreigndub Soundsystem, The Upbeats and more.

Catch the guys @ Fractured this Friday with local support from;

Irie FM w/ Hennez, Turntable Terrorists, ShiKung, Johnny Boy Holmes, Kaiser, Tu Meke All-Stars + Bek.

Entry $15, guest list $10.

Ohh, back to DNB in the main room for this, & big ups to Leaps & Bounds for coming on board to do the other room/s?
Is downstairs open this friday as well? That was my understanding of the situation, but this needs clarification.. (I shouldn't have left the meeting early)

Yes. i dont think i heard one attempt to simply beat match 2 tunes.
just heavy heavy heavy use of the stop/start button.
takes the piss hard.
Did they pull out a heap of freshly voiced dubs for this gig? I would have have very interested to have caught this one....ah well...

Yeah the dude just got AIMed some fresh dubs before he came here and some Jamalski's newbies. Yeah he didn't mix much but had worked out some awesome songs with his vocalists and was worried more about sharing the love around on the mic with the new tunes they have been making rather than keeping an even tempoed smooth mix.
It definately hyped the floor. People didn't know what to do when the DnB started.

Just a little insight for you Reggae noobs... the selector [in reggae the DJ is the MC] doesnt mix, they drop tunes all over the shop, in a rugged fashion of quick crossfades between the banging part of the tunes, "in a mash it up stylee". its all about terrorising the system, and layering the overall sound with blips, horns, sirens, cheap and nasty FXs and a lot of chatting or singing over the top. noisy shit indeed. its quick, noisy and bloody fun... oh and most of it is meant to be cheesy...
So keeping this in mind, did you enjoy shaking your thang or what? :)
